Check your air intake tubes they might be loose. Or your battery cables could be loose as well.

could be one of many problems . only a mechanic locally can figure this out . fuel pumps fail ,wires fail ,timing chains break , and the list goes on and on .

Would a bad starter cause my 84 caprice to shut off and not crank back while I was driving down highway it also started losing power before shutting off when trying to crank it it just clicks

check condition of battery and have the charging system tested. the starter will not cause the engine to stop running after it has started.

Nope, a bad starter will make an engine not crank over, but has no effect on how the engine runs once it is started.

The crankshaft sensor can cause instant engine shut down when it fails. Did the dealership check for fault codes?

How long does it take for the computer to reset so i can get an emmission check? 2002 grand ch. limited. ive heard up to a week, but was looking for anouther opinion. thank you.

It is typically 10 drive cycles and could take anywhere from 2 to 5 days depending on the type of driving you do. Try to take the car on the highway for a few miles, get off the highway, shut it down for a while, then do some local street driving.

96 F 150 5.0l stalls out. possibley heat related. wont restart right away. 2x have gotten restarted after 10 min. both times on highway. seems like ign. cant troubleshoot since it restarts. driving me...

The coil wire slide on type ( not Bolt on ) have a tendansy to expand if they get to hot, thus causing an open in your ignition system and shutting down your engine. much the same as driving down the highway and sudenly turning off your key. After a period of cool down you turn the key and the motor firers up right away because the coil cap has had a chance to cool down as well and cuntract to its original shape ounce again and is ounce again making proper contact, untill it gets to hot again and then the same thing will happen.Solution replace the coil half cap and wires to it.

The truck shut off and will not start.

While you are driving the truck just shut down like you turned the key off ?
And now it will not start ?
Do the lights come on in the dash when you try to start it ?
Can you turn your headlights on ?
Is there a check engine light on in the dash. You need to have someone hook a scan tool up and retrieve any codes you may have.
Please let me know.

2001 gmc safari stalls when comming off the exit ramp on highway, around town it is fine. replaced mas air flow sensor and iac sensor. still stalling

car shuts off when driving for a while, this could be a bad crank sensor. but the sensor should set a problem code, have car scanned. if you do not have a scanner, any auto parts place will scan for free.if car shuts off when driving down road then a bad crank sensor will cause this. good luck toolman,
