Can I use a screw driver to start my 1990 Nissan stanza xe

I assume the ignition lights goes on. But the engine won't turn? Switch the ignition on. (Make sure car is in neutral). Remove the plug from the solenoid. Bridge it with main battery wire that goes to the starter. Solenoid should kick in an starter will engage and turn. Ps. Hope you not try to steal the vehicle.
