Dash lamps and tail lamps are usually on the same fuse. So check your fuses. Check them electrically as checking the visually is not enough..Buy yourself a test probe from an autoparts store clip then end to a good ground, like the vehicle body and touch the probe to each end of the fuses. If the lamp lights up at both ends, the fuse is good. If it lights up at only one end, then that fuse has failed and needs replacing. If the probe does not light up at all, then that fuse has no power, this may be due to that circuit NOT being turned on. Make sure that you turn the tail lamps on before you check the fuses. The brake lamp is most likely a hinckey bulb, but some some Landrovers have seperate fuses for each lamp so again, check fuses..

The problem is with burnt fuses, try finding the busted fuse and installing new one. Good Luck

I bought a 96 LR se7 a few years ago and remodeled it for hunting. I had some trouble keeping lights burning especially the tail lights until I wrapped them up with tape and pretty much sealed them off from outside elements. Your problem sounds a little bigger in that the others may be right about fuse problem. Just check your wiring as much as possible to make sure there are no bare places on them. Use a meter if you have one.

SOURCE: Dash light and tail lights not working

The dash and tail lights are controled by the first "click" of the headlight switch found on the turn signal arm.

If the fuses are good, then your turn signal arm has failed.

First click is running lights (dash and outside marker lights), second is headlights.

The 1st position of the 2 position switch has contacts internally that have worn and no longer complete the circuit.

Replace the turn signal arm.

SOURCE: abs light on in land rover

I have spent way too much money trying to get the 3 amigos to go out...ABS light, TC light and downhill descent. I have decided to try and ID the wires that go to those particular dash lights and cut them. I am tired of this ****. Landrover told me three different things that may cause this issue and told me to start with the least expensive one first! Go to hell, Landrover. I will NEVER buy another Landrover product. Which wires can I cut?

My brake lights work but my tail lights and reverse lights don't work. Also my dash lights quit when I changed the switch for my headlights.

Check your fuses. I had the same problem with a 90 Honda civic. Dash lights went out, tail lights also went out. Replaced 1 fuse and all came back on.

Headlights and taillights went out @ the same time

Blown the bulbs or just went out and then worked again? If the latter, loose connection on light switch on the dash or relay requires replacing.

How do I replace a brake light in a land rover freelander 2004 - does the glass cover screw off internally or externally. Are the brake light and tail light bulbs combined? Many Thanks David

If there are visable screws around the tail lite lens yes they come out and just screw off the bulbs socket than the bulb,,,If no visable screws than the should be a panel on in side of vehcle back side that comes out for access to the lights.

How to replace LR2 Third Brake Light

The Freelander is Land Rover's entry-level crossover SUV. Unlike other Land Rover vehicles that use a traditional "truck," body-on-frame chassis, the Freelander is built on a unibody, front-wheel drive car chassis. The Freelander is sometimes known in the U.S. as the "LR2."

1 Purchase replacement bulb P21/5W, available at most auto parts stores and at any Land Rover
dealer.

2 Turn off engine and open rear cargo door.

3 Remove the two Torx screws from the side of the tail light assembly. Carefully pull the assembly
away and unplug the electrical harness.

4 Turn the assembly over to access the bulb modules. There are three separate bulb modules; the
top module should be the brake light.

5 Rotate the bulb module counterclockwise to release it from the tail light assembly. Push the bulb
down (into the module) and turn it counterclockwise to remove it from the module.

6 Insert the new bulb into the bulb module. Carefully push the bulb down and turn it clockwise.
Reinsert the bulb module into the tail light assembly and turn it clockwise.

7 Reconnect the electrical harness to the tail light assembly. Remount the tail light assembly and
replace the Torx screws.

Taillights won't go off.

Is it the tail lights or the brake lights? If its the brake lights then there is a switch down by your brake peddle that the lever pushes up against to keep your brakes off when there not being applied. If that switch goes out or is out of adjustment the the brake lights will stay on. Hope that helps

What started this mess? tailights, fog lights, brake lights....

The relay has nothing to do with the tail lights, but replacing the switch sounds like a good idea. There's a nut holding it in place, see http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/electrics/switches/switch-headlight/1027524/ to get an idea of the construction. And the price. This is not worth fiddling about unreliable workarounds...
In addition, if fuses 15 and/or 16 burn frequently there might be a problem with the tail light cabling.

Good luck
