Trailer wiring uses the fuses for the car lights. Turn signal, running ans brake lights. Some plugs also charge the trailer battery if so wired. Check the ground wire for a good body connection. This wire often gets overlooked and can stop all trailer lights if it fails.

on your trailer plug look for a blue wire that is for aux power to charge trailer battery when your parked diconnect plug or it will drain car battery, also look in fuse box for empty holder marked aux or trailer you may have to put a fuse in it, did you put in trailer plug or was it factory ?you may have to run your own power wire if you do put i fuse in line for protection.good luck larry hope this helped or gave you some ideas.

Hello Carol, The 7 way is for use with a brake controller and/or a trailer that has electric brakes. The 4 way flat is a basic trailer plug connector.
Connect as follows:
Green wire- Connects to the vehicles right turn wire harness & provides brake light and right turn signal on trailer.

Yellow wire- Connects to vehicles left turn wire & powers brake light & Left turn signal on trailer

White wire- Ground

Brown Wire- Tail/ marker/ license plate lights

The Blue, Red & Purple wires on the 7 way will not be used on the adapter, those are for brakes.

Hi,
You need to get a proper earth connection through the trailer. Ensure all your light is earthed to the trailer on the steel parts, then take a wire from the trailer plug to the frame.
Then on the car make sure you have the same pin as for the trailer earth going to the car earth pin, then find a good earth on the car and run a wire from the car plug to that earth.
This should stop your lights from flickering when the indicator is on also. So in short wire in a good earth for the trailer as well as a good earth for the car. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

There are separate fuses for the trailer turn signals.Make sure they are good.They are in the under hood fuse block.If they are then check for corrosion in the trailer harness wiring.Hope this helps.Good luck.

theres a plug/wiring that plugs into wiring of truck in the rear,uhaul may sell it if not go to a trailer store or check website,tpye in 2002 escape trailer wiring plug. it costs about 27.00 and heres a picture of it and it takes about 5 minutes to in stall hope this helps.
