They are correct. There is a groved ring and spring between your steering wheel and colum. It allows electrical connection to your cruise buttons and air bag. Those springs wear out and no connection can be made. Its called a clock spring. Make sure if you try to replace it your self to take care around the air bag as you could inaverdlty set it off.

If I take my car somewhere to get it fixed is the work to fix the spring expensive? What would you say it would cost?

Cruise controlnot working

Do you have an airbag light lit ? Are your cruise control buttons on the steering wheel . If so the clock spring could have an open circuit. A clock spring is a part inside the steering column , under the steering wheel . Check out this video on clock spring .
https://youtu.be/4jv2DW39drA if no airbag light ,then probably not this part.

I have a dodge stratus 2000. My airbag light is on and the horn does not work. However the cruise control does work. Help!!!

The airbag and horn depend on wires running down the steering column. You may need to take a lot of covers off to find where the broken wires are.

2001 f250 airbag light came on horn won't work or cruise controls or automatic hubs won't lock. Is this all connected? It happened at the same time

The horn switch and the air bag and cruise control wiring in the steering wheel go through the clock spring, ford calls it air bag sliding contact. The clock springs have been know to go bad.

2001 dodge se stratus has SRS light on, horn doesnt work and criuse control does not work. Any sugestions?

Sound like your clock spring under the steering wheel is bad. Check with Chrysler dealer I know there was a safety recall on a lot of Chrysler Dodge products about this because the air bag will not work properly. Good luck

Cruiz control works intermittently.

In many cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament for the cruise control switch circuit, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to disarm the airbag system can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to start of work to disarm the airbag system.

I lost all power to the steering wheel components,

Your issue is most likely the clock spring which is part of the air bag system.

All of the signals controlling these functions are routed through the clock spring.

Should cost around 200-300 to have it done, or more like 100-150 if you do it yourself. You must know what you are doing though as the airbag system is not to be taken lightly.

I have a 2001 Stratus. Airbag light stays on

That happened to me when the clock spring in the steering wheel broke. But the clock spring controls the air bags, horn and cruise control. Check if your horn and cruise control works. If not, I bet it's the clock spring from turning your wheel. It was about $150 to replace. Good luck!

Cruise control, and radio controls on steering wheel, now air bag

The problem is the coiled ribbon contact under the steering wheel (we call it the clock-spring contact) that connects the stereing wheel controls to the steering column wiring harness, this is a printed circuit that is coiled to allow the wheel to move and still have a psychical contact for the wheel switch's and the airbag, anyway replace that contact coil, u must disarm the airbag to do this repair, follow the factory procedure to do this or serious injury can result if the airbag fires.
