SOURCE: head gasket on my 1990 toyota V6 3.0

I would highly recommend that you go to the local parts store and purchase a Haynes Manual for your vehicle, they are around $ 25.00 Canadian. As when you do your head gasket you wil need to remove your timing belt and this is a procedure in it's self. then you will neen certain torque settings. This manual will provide you with all of this information step by step. they are designed for the do it yourselfer. They also cover many other issues that you may come across through out the ownership of your vehicle. I know that the last ting you need is an added exspence but these manuals are well worth the small investment. There is a site that you can find hrough google search that you can find factory service repair manuals for your vehicle, however they only have a layout for a 4 cylinder engine in there drawings and this is alot different then the 6 cylinder. As the procedure for repairs is totally different. I hope that this helps and that you take the time to rate any solutions you receive. Good Luck.

SOURCE: 1992 Toyota Previa van,Oil dripping onto exhaust manifold, replace head gasket? need a free manual!

The toyota previa uses a formed silicone gasket for the valve cover and the cover is held in place by metric shoulder bolts ( 10mm). The valve gasket leaks because you can't get enough preload on the bolts to re-seat the old gasket when it gets old and shrinks. The shoulder bolts only allow you to tighten the gasket enough to seat the shoulder on the bolt. If you continue to torque down the suspected bolts, you will snap the bolt off ( don't ask me how I know this ). You can either 1.)replace the old gasket with a new one or 2.) remove the existing bolts around the leak area and put in new metric bolts that do not have a shoulder. You may want to put in a small sleeve into the existing bolt hole but shorter than the thickness of the valve cover to account for the smaller diameter bolt. You can now torque down the bolt and get enough preload to seal the valve cover without removing the old gasket. Make sure you use a torque wrench ( in-lbs) or be very careful not to snap these small valve cover bolts.

SOURCE: 1993 toyota 4x4 idle problem

sounds like your throttle positioning sensor is not set right so i would undo the two phillips heads that hold it and turn it till the idle doesnt fluctuate should be turned most of the way to the front of the truck. Also check your idle screw that throttle body could be set different.

Will re torqing the head bolts o na 86 toyota 4x4 with a 4y engine help temporarily with oil in the water ? Im also loosing water but cant see a leak

if the job was done properly , re-torquing the head bolts is not necessary
what is very necessary however is to clean out the stud holes and threads before refitting the head and applying thread lubricant to the stud threads
the problem is when there is oil or water left in the holes before fitting that muck creates a false torque reading
the setting is reached but the head is still loose so re-torquing the studs will sill cause that hydraulic lock situation and the head will still be loose
also all head studs are not always the same length so a stud will bottom out at tension but again the head will be loose
and lastly, head gaskets have a sealant applied that glues the head to the block on operating temperature and that will now be destroyed by the oil and water
all of this is explained in detail in the workshop mmanual

1989 Toyota 4x4 22re? 6mm hex bolt missing from thermostat housing, could that cause water to leak into the head?

I do not see how that could possible leak into the head unless you had a crack in the area that the water was leaking. It would at least not be because of the bolt missing.

to see if there is a possiblity of blown head gasket, check the oil and see if there is any coolant in the oil pan. If the oil looks like milky chocolate, you have a blown head gasket or cracked block/head

I have a 1994 toyota pickup ext cab 4x4. Its running hot . I put new radiator and thremostat. No water in the oil. No visible leaks i see

You might check for exhaust in the coolant ... perhaps you have a small head gasket leak that is the problem.

My 1990 toyota pickup 4x4 is over heating and i've changed the thermostat and checked the water pump. i'm not sure what else to check

most likely you have either a plugged radiator or blown head gasket.one way to check if its a head heating than you know its a head gasket. But when u reove the thermostat open the radiator cap before you run.after you remove the cap astart the vehicle and check for good circulation in radiator.Hope this helps.

AIR GETTING INTO COOLING SYSTEM TOYOTA MASTERACE TURBO DIESEL 1993 4X4

Air getting in to the cooling system is a good indication that the head gasket has gone bad. During the time your turbo will boost the compression ratio is when the air will get pushed through the head gasket into your cooling jackets between the engine block and head's. Good luck and hope this helps.

I want to replace my head gaskets, 91 v6 3.0 4x4 toyota. how bad of a job would it be? i know a little about cars but never done a head gasket.

It's a big job if you've never done one before. If you have and are familiar with this type of thing it should take about 8 - 10 hours. I strongly suggest that when you do you take the heads to a machine shop to check them over and HAVE THE VALVES ADJUSTED! They use pain in the neck shim system that has to be adjusted after 60? k otherwise you'll burn a valve.

White coloured engine oil, overheating

White oil means water or coolant is leaking in via Head Gasket Failure or a crack in the head. Along with repair - be sure to have each cylinder compression tested to see if there is a crack that has developed.
