Question about 1989 Cadillac Fleetwood

The iat sensor is it suppossed to be in the manifold in the coolant or the airside of the intake? There are two sensors in the intake manifold one is the coolant sensor is the other the intake air temp sensor and is it supposed to be in the coolant?

    I believe you when you tell me that it is there and that the iat sensor is not emmersed in coolant what i am asking is where is it i cant find the thing and i am getting frustrated, is it behind the carb in front of it in the back i only found the two sensors that are emmersed in coolant in the front right below the cruise control diafram please guru give me a hand if it is in your power.This is a 1989 caddy fleetwood limo with a 5.0 4brl i do believe its the olds 307. i need some help here ....it is giving me a code 23............

The air and temp sensor don't have the same connector, disconnect both and check the plug to the sensor, will only fit one or the other.Hope this was very helpful.Good luck

No, the IAT (intake air temp) is not submersed in engine coolant. It is located in the manifold to measure the incoming air temperature.

    The sensor is located near the intake opening and would look like this:




    Your coolant temp sensor will be located and threaded into the coolant passage.

    It has been awhile for me, But I do not remember two sensors that looked alike and not being able to tell them apart with the image I sent.

IT SHOULD BE LOCATED IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD ON THE LEFT SIDE FRONT, NOT IN THE COOLANT PASSAGE, 2 WIRE SENSOR, ROUND CONNECTOR

Low temp on iat reading and my 94 chevy dont have one


Pretty sure it would have an IAT sensor, else your scanner would not have been able to show that. Double check for it-it may be mounted right close to the throttle position sensor,. or the idle air control, somewhere in the intake manifold. Your symptoms of running rich are the classic case of a bad IAT, or a bad Coolant Temp. Sensor. But the scanner said iat, so I would believe that. Do you know for a fact it has no intake air temp. sensor?

Map sensor location


Located on top cylinder on transmission side.The MAP sensor is located either directly on the intake manifold or it is mounted high in the engine compartment and connected to the intake manifold

Where is the IAT sensor for a 99 5.9 diesel ?


The two-wire Intake Manifold Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is installed in the intake manifold with the sensor element extending into the air stream:
  1. This is a Negative Thermal Coefficient (NTC), meaning that as the manifold air temperature increases, the resistance (voltage) in the sensor decreases, and vice-versa.
  2. The IAT sensor provides an input voltage to the PCM, indicating the density of the air entering the intake manifold based on intake manifold air temperature. When the ignition is turned ON , a 5-volt power circuit is supplied to the sensor from the PCM. The sensor is grounded at the PCM through a low-noise, sensor-return circuit.
  3. The PCM uses this input to determine:
    Injector pulse-width (air: fuel ratio) Ignition timing (to prevent spark knock)

Location of IAT sensor in the car?


For Hyundai Car 1999-05 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Location (check several options):

1.- The IAT sensor is located against the firewall to the left side of the engine. It is combined with the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor.

2.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. On some vehicles this sensor is combined with the MAP/MAF sensor.

3.- The IAT sensor is located in the air plenum assembly. On some vehicles it is combined with the MAF sensor.

4.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. On some vehicles this sensor is combined with the MAP/MAF sensor.

5.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. It is combined with the Manifold Absolute Pressure (AFS) sensor.

6.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. It is combined with the Manifold Absolute Pressure (AFS) sensor.

I have a 2002 chrysler 300m problem code p0073 aimbient air sensor , i bought the sensor but i dont know where it is located


Hi,
On2.7L models, the IAT sensor is located on the left side (driver) of the Intake Manifold plenum, if you are standing in front of the car, it is the sensor right before the two vacumm hoses plugged into the Intake Manifold.

On 3.2L/3.5L models, the IAT sensor is incorporated whthin the Map sensor which is also located on the left side (driver) of the upper Intake Manifold plenum. Right by the coolant reservoir tank.
