First things first check to ensure the correct fluid level and condition. If low or contaminated top up or change. Also check for any DTC in the computer either active, or pending to ensure that no other problems are evident. If codes exist repair them first. Make sure any parts that are replaced are actually at fault for the codes, test the circuits and components then replace the faulty parts, don't just rely on the code to tell you what component is at fault. Also some models of these trucks had problems with the range selector switches or neutral safety switches on side of the transmission. may not be your problem but could give ya something to think about. As always check for problematic cables, wirings and connectors for corrosion, etc. also ensure that the new speed sensor is torqued down properly, and that the right one was replaced, as many transmissions will have 2 or 3 speed sensors for things like input and output shaft speed sensors, and vehicle speed sensors. hope this will help you. good luck

This means your transmission position switch has failed and need to be replaced. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

When i start my car and go to put it in gear it wont move.

When you say rocky spot, what do you mean? If you mean there were rocks in the roadway, you could have put a small hole in the transmission pan which leaked all the fluid out of it. First thing I would do is check the fluid level on the transmission dipstick and look for leaks on the ground under the car.

I think you have an engine speed sensor fault. its not reading the engine speed or the motion speed. needs these two to change speed and ( gear). one is connected to the abs unit and the other is on the engine. usually if they both go its down to the gear box ecu. you can check if you have it on a ecu reader. will have fault codes or not be read at all.

Have the car towed to a local transmission repair shop, they can give you a preliminary diagnosis in most case at no charge

2000 ford mercury 3.0, shifter wont move. had a fender bender, put it into park and it wouldn't come back out.

For car not changing gears it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.

For more troubleshooting, I suggest you to get the Following help link checked, its complete step by step procedure to inspect gear shift issues: -----

Cars gear shifter moves but wont engage in any gear it just rev

If the fluid hasn't leaked out and the transmission is full then I am sorry to say your transmission has failed, this can be anything from worn clutch packs to no hydraulic pressure to internal leaks or a failed front pressure pump.

Audi a3 1998 automatic transmission cannot shift into gear

have you checked the brake lights for operation ?
if they don't work than it is your brake light switch located on the pedal support bracket.

Automatic transmission wont catch into any gear

You sould have been moore frequent on your transmission fluid changes, and you shouldn't have taken it to Jiffy Lube either. Your best bet is to drain and fill the trans fluid run it shift gears. Drain and fill again. Do this 3 times. Yeah the transmission fluid is expensive. on the last drain and fill you want to get a bottle of LUBE GUARD from NAPA or who ever sells it. put the whole 10oz bottle in. Shift Rev, 1, 2, 3, D. Neutral Rev D. If that don't work then you have bad seals.

Car wont shift into any position

Hi, I know this may sound saft but are you keeping your foot on the brake whilst trying to engage gears?
If you are then maybe a inhibitor switch problem.
Please Don't press the unacceptable button on me as I'm only giving suggestions.
