You could have a fuel pump issue, the only way to verify that is to check the pressure when it acts up.Also you may have a ignition problem, some of the possible causes could be crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, ignition control module.A easy way to verify ignition issue is to use a spark plug tester after the vehicle has stalled.

91 3.1 lumina dies after warming up ,only drives 20 ft then dies but will start a couple times then wont start until cooled off

If you replace enough parts, you will probably get it eventually...if you do not create more problems by trying to do it this way. It sounds to me like it would be less expensive to get the thing properly diagnosed.

With that said, it sounds like you are describing a classic crankshaft position sensor problem. That engine had a lot of problems with the wiring harness to the sensor where it goes around the bottom of the oil pan. That is first place I would look.

91 Lumina won't stay running; see lots of same question for same car but no problem solvers....Please help.

On electronic fuel injection pumping an pumping an pumping the gas pedal does nothing without the engine running ! Pushing the gas pedal to the floor will cause the PCM - engine computer to go into clear flood mode .

You have some very interesting ideas here , but not really how it works or is !

The vehicle will go into closed loop fuel control when the engine coolant temp reaches a definded temp an the O2 sensor get hot.

She would run for a couple minutes and die which is open loop when running, closed loop is when the sensors kick and it would die. Pulled spark plugs, they were black meaning no spark. Can only be 2

Black spark plugs indecate a rich condition , over fueled , wet spark plugs indecate no spark .

Your tranny has died.

More likely the pump in the tranny is bad, but it will take a rebuild to fix the problem sorry to say.

91 chevy lumina 3.1 starts but when reaches operating temp dies

check your cooling system, the thermostat, water level, test for cooling fan sensors and fan operation, clogged radiator test for 30-50 degrees difference from the top to the bottom of the rad,it could be clogged.Less than 30 degrees it's good.
Check for water in the oil or white/brown foam on the dip stick that would be a blown head gasket, causing you engine to over heat and cut off.
