Do you have the slotted release tool?? It should come with the new part. Also you figure all the years it's been together, It WILL be stubborn.

Where are the lines located to bleed the slave cylender.


slave cylinders are bled at a nipple on the end of the slave cylinder . If the slave cylinder is inside the bell housing then there will be a bleed nipple on the outside of the housing

It is not adjustable as it is Hydrolic. it self adjusts.

If you just installed a master cylinder for it, the shaft does have a minor adjustment on it.

Most likely what is happening is one of two........

1. The clutch is worn out and the pedal is getting VERY LOW.

2. The clutch is new and you have air in the system............. These things are a nightmare to bleed out. slowly pump the pedal while someone uses a prybar to disengage the clutch to allow full travel of the slave cylender. While they hold the pedal release the pry bar and open the bleeder, repeat twice more, then fill the master cylender again, continue until all air is out!

How to bleed slave cylinder on a 1993 mazda mx3


keep you fluid level above 3/4 full- assuming you have a hydrolic clutch- unhook negitve battery cable remove rubber cap from bleeder screw on the release cylinder.place place a bleeder tube over the end of the bleeder screw.sumerge other end in a jar thats half full of hydrolic brake fluid.slowly pump the clutch pedal fully and let return slowly several times requires two people while pressing clutch to the floor lossen bleeder untill fluid comes out then close keep repeating this while keeping an eye on your bleeder tube jar as soon as you see no more bubbles close the bleeder screw and again make sure to keep an eye on resivor to remain 3/4 full or will get air in the line and have to start over. this part should be located on the tranny this is for hydrolic bleeding system refure to your owners manual for your type and location of your clutchrelease slave cylander.

Cant get into any gears at all while my car is on but when the car is off it perfectly slides in


sounds like a clutch problem. if the clutch is constantly engaged, you won't be able to get it into gear. Check your clutch/brake fluid level and perhaps you will have to replace the master or slave cylinders. First, try bleeding the clutch line (it's hydrolic, with a nipple like a brake line, near the front of the transmission, accessible from underneath the car.)
Also, you can test this theory pretty easily. If you put it in first, and put in the clutch, and start the car, does it lurch forward? If it does, your clutch is not releasing.

For install of hydrolic clutch master cylinder, how do I bleed the line?


The slave cylinder on the transmission flywheel housing has a bleed screw. Fill the clutch reservoir on the master cylinder to 'max'. Have a friend depress the clutch pedal and keep it pressed. Open the bleed screw half a turn to release the air and then lightly re-tighten the bleed screw . Ask for the pedal to be released then depressed fully again and held there. Again release the bleed screw half a turn to release air bubbles. Keep repeating the above cycles until no more air is forthcoming and then tighten the bleed screw firmly. Your done

My hydrolic clutch has just been repaired all new from master cylender to plate but will not stay bled for more then bout 50 miles what could the problem be


can you see leaking hydraulic fluid anywhere? The principle is very simple The master cylinder behaves like a syringe. You press the clutch pedal and fluid is forced by the master cylinder plunger to the slave cylinder mounted on the side of the gear box. The slave cylinder is like a syringe in reverse so that the fluid pushed into it from the master cylinder causes the plunger to extend into the clutch/flywheel bell housing and engage with the end of the clutch bearing release lever. The slave cylinder has a bleed screw on the top of it to release any air that has got into the system. Ensure that reservoir is full and ensure that a sheet of polythene has not been left under the screwed on cap: sometimes done to prevent excessive fluid loss whilst working on hydraulic systems. Make sure that the hydraulic unions at the master and slave cylinders are nice and tight. make sure all bled points are similarly tight. The only possible remaining places for air ingress (and by default fluid egress) are the cylinder fluid seals on the pistons... get under and look for leaks when you can get a colleague to pump the clutch repeatedly

Check if the slave cylinder is being activated by the operation of the master cylinder (also ensure no fluid leaks are present).
If slave cylinder not moved, you still have a faulty master cylinder or slave cylinder - or the hydraulic system still has air.

If the slave cylinder is operating normally and there is still no return pressure from the clutch pressure plate, you have a faulty pressure plate or throughout lever mechanism.

Almost every time a clutch is replaced in a GM with hydraulic release system that system is replaced as well. You can try, and try, and try again to bleed it, but you will eventually replace the clutch slave and master cylinders. Once the slave is allowed to fully extend, it is then virtually impossible to make it function correctly again.

when you bleed the system you need to force fluid from the slave cylinder up threw the master cylinder . this is proper way to bleed clutch system.

Car shifts when not running, however once started gears won't shift....


Clutch isn't being released when pedel is pressed in. you need to either bleed the clutch, or adjust the clutch.You may have a pitted slave cylender. this means that fluid is passing around the piston in the slave cylender. if so you need to rebuild or replace the slave cylender. there may be other reasons too but these are some of the most common reasons
