Remove the knob or slide the rubber boot up the shifter. there are 4 screws under the floor mat that hold the boot in place. after the boot you should see four more bolts holding the shifter in place, they are usually 10mm socket. remove them and remove shifter from the top of trans.

My 2000 ford ranger will not go in park drives fine

Do you mean the gear selector physically won't move into the Park position or that it does move to indicate it is in Park but will still roll?
I'm sure you know you have to pull the gear selector toward you to get it into Park.

1986 ford ranger transmission not going into 1st or 2nd gear

If third, forth, and fifth work OK then there could be a selector problem. Does the gear stick go into the correct position? If so then selector and or other internal problem which will require removal

How do I go about changing oil in my 93 Ranger manual trans?

Check and see if the is a drain plug at the back, bottom or side of the trany, open plug and let drain and then replace gear oil. Other plug will be half way up on the side of the trany.

I just bought a 1984 ford ranger with a 5 speed manual transmission.Nothing wrong test drive good, clutch is smooth and The gears all flowed just as they should. My girlfriend was messing with the gear...

Not too sure how common a problem this is but it may have come off the selector rod which is attached to the gear stick. If this is ok then the problem will be inside the gearbox and the selector fork has popped off the selector hub inside the gearbox...It will have to come out if this has happened. So check for any linkages attached to the gearstick an make sure they are still in the arms. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

How do you remove the gear shift lever on a 93 ford ranger?

many of these trucks have a mazda trans in them, to remove these shifters you will need to remove the 4 phillips head screws from the corners of the trim around the shifter boot and pull it up out of your way. it's not necessary to remove the boot from the shifter, just lift it up for access to the top of the trans. at the base of the shifter on the top of the trans you will see a plate attached with torx head screws. remove all but 2 of them, now make sure the trans is in neutral and remove the last 2 screws and pull the shifter straight up. the shifter is now out leaving a big hole open on the top of the trans for dirt to fal into so put a wrag in it or screw a piece of cardboard to it. installation is the reverse. good luck
