Are you saying " car smells like burning rubber"
I would say something has fallen down onto either your exahust pipe of exhaust manifold, possibly a hose or wire, you need to find out before something shorts out.

Car heater blowing cold air and rubber burnning

If your heater is spraying a light mist through your vents it could be your heater coil. Mine did the same thing, smell rubber burning, then started a light mist through the vents. If you don't get that checked out, it could mess up your water pump and possibly your engine

Burning rubber smell as well as a noise when I run the ac for long period of time. The car is a 2007 pt cruiser convertible (NOT Turbo) 4 cylinder. If I put the vehicle in park and run the air conditioner...

check your ac belts and pulleys. if there ok then possibly your ac compressor. your compressor not only holds freon but also oil it could be low and its burning your compressor

Temperature gauge rises when idling

First check that your fans are operating and coolant level is full. If they are, check that there are no leaves etc stuck betweren the radiator and the AC condenser.Last option is a bit more expensive...radiator may be partially obstructed internally (would need flush or replacement)
Egg smell brings me to another potential problem if converter is partially plugged it will raise engine temp as well...the rubber smell is oil residue on block getting hotter than normal and evaporating.
If you work on this yourself ask any techinical questions you have along the way and I'll try to help. Otherwise get the car to a shop asap...overheating in any form can severely damage your engine.
Good luck!!
