Lots of possibilities. The first thing I would do is to have someone turn it on and off, while you look around under the hood (carefully, because fans go on and off).
The first thing you want to see, is if the AC compressor clutch is turning on and off properly. When the fan clutch is off, the outside of the pully will spin with the belt, but the inside will be standing still. When it is on, the whole pulley turns. If this does not work, then it could be a fuse, switch, or the clutch itself.
If this is working, then you need to look into the small sight glass in the top of the receiver/dryer, which is a small vertical cylinder. It should show a flow of clear fluid. Bubbles means it is low on freon.
But the controls could be screwed up, with the hot water staying on, the cold air not be allowed in, etc.'
Operating the controls should allow you to see these things working.
To go beyond this, like check the compressor, the expansion valve, etc., you would need to put a set of pressure gauges on, which are about $50, and come with instructions. There are 2 because you want to compare the input and output sides of the compressor.

ok, this is easy ,really
  1. fuse are first
  2. blower in dash must blow, and A/C light glow.
  3. the compressor must spin (shaft) if not the clutch in front is not energizes or the belt there fell off.
  4. the high/low switch (Freon(tm) pressure switch up front ) must be closed, or the system shuts, down (saving itself)
  5. if you get this far, ask for help for next set of tests on the AC amp logic. ( 6 things that cause it to shut it all down)
  6. ask

Car gets hot when Idle

You might check your cooling fan at the radiator; it may not be running. If it's not, track it down (fuse or thermal switch) and fix it!

My air conditioner on 2007 suzuki reno blow hot air

it will need service,
check pressures.
hot air as in heater on, so turn off the heater,
test in pure A/C mode Cold.
when both A/C and heat are on this is called defrost mode
which adds cold dry air to hot air and dehumidifes the hot air and window.

2004 xl7 , heater blows but does not get hot, car temp is normal, had ac worked on this past summer, freon leak

one of the doors that directs the heater core air into the vehicle might be dmaged. should have that checked. also there could be a clogged line in the heater core. try seeign if the hoses that go to the heater core are both hot.

2001 Suzuki XL7 is blowing the fuel pump fuse every 15-20 miles...It is pulling 260 ohms... What could be the problem?

Replace with known good fuel pump. The windings in your fuel pump are shorted and drawing too much current. This could be bad because it could cause a fire!!!!

2002 Suzuki xl7 Mysterious Overheating Issue

Most Suzukis A/C systems will cut out when the engine tempurature is too high (to reduce the load on the engine). Also, in this condition, when the A/C compressor cuts out, the A/C thermo fan (electric - in front of the condensor) may come on ( to try and cool the engine). Combined with the fact that your temp gage says the engine is hot, I would be checking your cooling system very closely. It could be as simple as leaves blocking the air flow through the radiator (between the condensor and radiator), or as serious as the internal cores of the radiator being blocked (different sorts of coolant being used can sometimes produce solid matter that can do this).
