The speedometer cable attaches behind the instument cluster which is not too difficult to remove. Then it travels down and connects to the tranny. It is usually held on with a threaded cap that holds it in placed. Some newer models have a speed sensor that goes to tranny instead of a cable.

My transmission stop shifting on a 2003 Chevy Impala and the speedometer quit working what can that be

There are two sensors on most transmissions since around the late 90's. You have an input sensor and an out put sensor. One of these is bad. If I remember correctly you need an input sensor. I would have the computer scanned for codes this will tell you for sure. GOOD LUCK FREIND.

The odometer quits working when the speedometer quits working. The most common cause for the speedometer to quit working is the speed sensor in the transmission. You said you replaced it, there is also a transmission speed sensor on your truck that may need to be replaced. I understand your frustration, but there is nothing else that would cause the speedometer to quit except the cable behind the gauges being clogged.

I HAVE A 1994 GEO PRISM 1.6L THE SPEEDOMETER DOESNT WORK , I REPLACED THE CLUSTER AND THE SENSOR THE SPEEDOMETER REACHES 35MPH AND THATS IT ANY SUGGESTIONS.

I've had a similar problem with my '94 prizm. I had to replace the instrument cluster about seven or eight years ago because the speedometer quit working. After replacing with a used instrument cluster it's been working fine till now. However, the problem is back again....so I'm looking for another used one. There is definately a weakness in this speedometer design when the mileage on the car gets high. Your problem is different since you replaced both the sensor and the speedometer and it still doesn't work. Chances are, you got a speedometer that didn't work to begin with. I would try another used one.

My transmission wont shift, the speedometer quit working at the same time in my 1999 plymoth breeze. It is an automatic transmission. Before the problem happened the transmission gave a **** and the...

Most likely your speed sensors are bad, this causes the transmission to seem like its "stuck" in second gear or in "limp" mode. I can also be your TCM (transmission control module). But from your description, it's most likely the speed sensors located on the top of the transmission. Make sure you replace them with an exact replacement are they are not interchangeable.
Hope this helps.

Speedometer quit but sometimes works. 98 neon

Check the ground wire from the engine to the firewall. It is a flat braided uncoated wire and should be easy to distinguish. Make sure that it is clean and tight.

Speedometer quit working

I'm not sure this is what you wanted? You see the fuses and relay. Ground wires are black.

Intermittent speedometer failure

Try replacing the speedometer sensor, located on the transmission under the car. There will be a few wires going to it with a plug. The speed sensor is a retivly low cost part, and most of the time when it begins to quit it will give irratic readings on the dash.
Hope this helps!

2004 volkswagen jetta speedometer doesn't work

There is a plastic gear inside the transmission that cracks or breaks causing this exact issue.  The speedo sensor gets its reading off of the broken gear by way of a shaft with a small gear that the sensor screws onto and meets with the gear that is broken. The transmission has to be dissassembled.  A new plastic gear put in and reassembled.
