Regarding the tune-up, you have 'iridium plugs', and the recommended replacement interval is 100,000 miles.

Replacement of the brakes is another issue. How and where you drive, in town or longer runs makes a big difference. Normal driving habits usually call for front brake replacement somewhere around 30-35,000 miles.

I'd start with a fuel filter. That, and when was last healthy tune up? Plugs, wires, all fluids & filters? I'd do the tune up also, it will give you a good "ground zero" starting point "if" problems continue.

My car stalls a lot. Usually every time I break. I have to break a certain way in order for it to not stall out. Happens most of the time I come to a red light. It's actually scary because I feel like I'm...

When you brake, the brake booster assist uses vacuum generated by the engine. This vacuum demand is apparently affecting the performance of the engine. The engine needs to be tuned.

Nowadays your basic tune up is a set of spark plugs, oil change and air filter. That is about it, and the spark plugs go for 100,000 miles. So even that is rare. Air filters get blown out, check the water in the battery and all the other fluids, coolant, brake, power steering, tranny. That is a basic tune up. Most people wait till something breaks to fix it. Hope this helps.

How to preform a tune-up on my 2009 Saturn Vue

It has a maintenance recomendation from the manufacturer for replacement of the spark-plugs at 100,000 miles. You don't list mileage or V6 or L4 cylinder. Make sure engine is cold because the cylinder heads are aluminum and can be damaged if plugs are removed hot or overtightened upon reassembly. Remove spark-plug wires and replace spark-plugs. Sometimes the wires break when you remove them and will require replacement. If you coat the inside of the wires where they connect with the plugs with dielectric grease it will help prevent the wires from breaking upon future disassembly.

Tuning and fuel injectors

About the only real fuel related problems I've seen with mine is the fuel pump going out. Tune ups are rather easy. A Bentley Manual will tell you all you need to know about the car. They are extremely detailed and well worth the money.
