You have to remove the cowl (panel under wiper arms) by removing the wiper arms and taking off the screws in cowl. The wiper arms need to be pulled away from windshield then you slide the clip at the base over and pry the wipers off. Under the cowl is a screen you remove. Then you can get to the wiper linkage. You can pop off the linkage with a prybar or a big screwdriver. Once it's off you take the bolts holding the motor out unplug the connector and reverse order for installation. The linkages can take some serious manhandling to get back on!

How to change front wiper motor on 1993 ford explorer

Hi there,
  • Turn the ignition on, and turn the front windshield wipers on. When the wipers are facing straight up on the window, turn the ignition off so they remain in that position.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench. Remove the passenger side wiper blade assembly, by removing the pivot nut at the bottom with an adjustable wrench. Remove the wiper linkage access cover, and use a screwdriver to remove the wiper motor clip. Remove the wiper linkage from the wiper motor.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector on the wiper motor. Remove the bolts and nuts, securing the wiper motor with a socket wrench. Remove the wiper motor from the vehicle. Install the new wiper motor, and tighten mounting bolts and nuts with a socket wrench. Connect the electrical harness to the new wiper motor. Connect the wiper linkage, and insert the linkage clip. Install the wiper blade assembly, and tighten the nut with an adjustable wrench.
  • Connect the negative battery cable securely, using an adjustable wrench.
Hope this helps...

I have one wiper that does not work the other stops in the middle of the windshield how can i fix them

The motor could be bad, but it's likely that the ball joint connections under the hood area under the cowl have become disconnected for the one windshield wiper arm.

The connection of the arm that moves should be checked for being at the correct angle for parking.

According to AllData, you don't have to remove the motor to install a new switch. Subsequently, AllData doesn't give direction on wiper arm or motor removal. Here are the only diagrams they give for switch replacement.
