When my car is stuck in the snow and doesnt seem to get traction only one wheel spins and not the other and its front wheel drive wouldnt both spin?

No, even a 4x4 will have only 1 wheel that will spin on each axle in this instance. It's called a floating differential. For stock vehicles with non locking differentials like you have, both cannot spin or have full power at the same time. Hard to explain on this, but picture your car making a hard right turn. Both front wheels would be spinning at different speeds because of the turn. The passenger side tire is spinning much slower than the drivers side tire, therefore if both were spinning at the same time, your tires would chirp and skip on the pavement which would eventually ruin your differential. In offroad applications, we WANT the differentials locked and turning at the same time with true 4x4. But in normal everyday vehicles, even standard stock 4x4's, only 1 tire will do the spinning per axle unless it has possitraction or full locked axle. Clear as snow?

I'm stuck in the snow and I have front wheel drive. I'm in drive and my left side tire doesn't turn but my right one does is it broken

Not necessarily. That is the normal operation of the differential. If the Left tire is on dry pavement and/or getting good traction and the right tire is on snow and ice, the right tire will spin and the left tire will just sit there. If you can get something under the right tire (a board, large piece of cardboard, sand, salt.etc.) both tires will drive to get you out of the snow.

My car isnt moving it has been stuck in the mudd and now i got it pulled out it wont move. did my transmission belt break or something

1. How long was it stuck in the mud, and 2.how deep was the mud? 3.Did you spin the tires like crazy for a while trying to get out? 4.What happens when you put it in gear and give it gas, does the engine speed increase, but the car just won't move?
If you (or someone else) beat the heck out of the car trying to get unstuck, jamming it in drive and reverse quickly, you may have blown the transmission. If the car sat in the mud for a while (a week or more?), the brakes might be the issue. You can check to see if it's a brake issue by starting the car, put in neutral, and have someone try to pull it with a tow strap or chain. If it won't move, or it does but the wheels don't roll, it's the brakes. If the wheels roll, it's the transmission. Check the trans. fluid level also. It's possible it's just low and won't engage. Let me know what you find.

Car wont move after warmed up

Stuck in snow, if you spin the tires for a prolonged amount of time you can overheat the transmission and damage it internally. Without seeing it, my best guess is that's what happened!

My Wheels wont turn in my RX 300 2001

Could Be Your Deferential When Was The Last Time You Changed The Fluid In There? Also If The Car Was Stuck The Tires May Not Spin Due To Positraction This Will Cause Neither Tire To Spin As It Switch's Back And Forth Trying To Go.

my wife has the same car we bought it new. the computer has gone out three times on it, the traction control does not work, and we live in wisconsin so it wont spin a tire in the snow. The remote start stopped working this winter also. Mine is being traded in on monday after getting stuck in the driveway again tonight after 2.5 inchs of snow. FN G.M. junk!
