Question about 1988 Chevrolet K2500
Just replace the tranny in a 1988 chevy k2500 all went in well. now It wont turn over. Battery is fine. Any ideas I am frustrated. there is nothing that should have changed. I reset neautral saftey switch & lined colum and tranny levers in the right postion. Please help a struggling back yard mechanic out. fRANK
In the wiring harness, that runs across the top of firewall on the drivers side. Locate the violet(purple) wire, and the red wire.(red is a little heavier gauge)
Use a knife or razor blade to cut into the insolation,
and make a contact between the two wires. This will
bypass the ignition and neutral safty switch's and
the starter should turn Provided the starter is good
and all necesary wires are connected correctly.
Also if you have no power at all, for headlights etc.
Connect a wire from the + contact on the alternator
to + terminal on the battery. This will bypass a bad
fusable link wire at the starter. And return power to
your lights/radio/wipers etc. And be sure the ground
strap/wire from the bell housing to the body is
connected. Hope this helps. good luck.

There are a couple of things that I would check.
Make sure you have continuity to the neutral safety switch.
Do the lights come on in the dash when you try and start it ?
Do your lights turn on ?
Make sure you did not blow the main BAT fuse.
Do you have 12 volts at starter ?, how about when you turn the ignition to start, do you have 12 volts at solenoid on starter ?
Please let me know.
