Question about 1998 Toyota Camry
Intermitant starting problem. When you turn the key there is a whirring sound. If you turn it two or three times the vehicle starts. This starting problem is getting consistently worse.
It is called the starter bendix or starter drive. It is not engaging the ring gear of the engine., thus you hear the whirrrrrr. (very good explanation)
You will need to replace the starter.
