Flush your whole system you probably have an air lock in your cooling system.

Head gasket may be on backwards... this will block most of the coolant flow through the heads

The single and double overhead cam engines take different sensors - it should be under a wiring harness close to the throttle cable.
Did you check the computer for trouble codes ?

Overheating and spewing same as on the blog its a 3L OHV 2000 taurus voltmeter shows 14.5v when put in fluid mechanics say blown head gasket because the eg meter goes off after you rev and let go back to...

Hello alexander923

There are no gasses in the cooling system, if it is completely full. Unfortunately, it does seem like a blown head gasket that is pushing combustion gasses into the cooling system on your Taurus. My experiences with these little P.O.S. 3.0L OHV Ford motors is, it is usually a cracked head, on the firewall side of the engine. The heads only cost about $50 for a rebuilt, so not too expensive.

Anyways, you came here looking for why your Taurus is overheating, didn't you? I just happen to have written an article about a year ago that has already helped several million people. Here is a link to that article:
How to diagnose an overheating engine.
After reading it, you will see that a simple process you can perform in your driveway without any tools, could have saved you that $100 diagnostic fee at the shop you took it to.

I help people save money on car repairs for a living. So, if you want to see more great tips and trick like this, then feel free to follow me on Twitter.

Thanks for the vote. :)

Replace a serpentine belt on a 97 ford taurus

use a 15mm box wrench on the nut retaining the tensioner pulley to pry the tensioner 'arm' against the spring to release belt. note belt routing on decal under hood,or make a sketch,to aid in replacement.
on OHV engine rotate clockwise
on OHC rotate counter clockwise
be sure belt is completely seated on pulleys

Need diagram for placement of serpentine belt for 97 Ford Taurus

Auto Zone has that information on line here. You didn't say what size engine you have or whether it is OHV or DOHC, but according to their numbers, almost 90% of 97 Taurus are 3.0L OHV.
