Question about Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Mitsubishi engine 4G 63 SOHC 16 valve ticking noise

The engine in my Mitsubishi Spacewagon/Nimbus/Chariot is a 4G 63 with 16 valves SOHC has a ticking noise at idle and loud enough to hear while I am driving. The frequency is RPM dependent but sometimes it goes away completely for a few seconds or minutes only to come back at different RPM's but not consistently.

I only chose Lancer Evolution as it has the same engine

SOURCE: noise when car is started

Sounds like the starter stays "sticked"on... Check the starter relay or after the sound goes away touch the starter for heat. If its too hot it means it stays on working even when the engine is allready running...

Hi there,
I suggest your ISC(Idle speed control) servo is faulty. Drive in a Mitsubishi dealer and ask them to scan and check.

SOURCE: Ticking Noise at Startup

Possibly a leaking hydraulic lifter. They can leak down while engine isn't running and then make a ticking noise for a while on startup. If it takes 10-15 minutes to go away, it is more likely to be a loose tappet which needs adjusting.

Interesting i have a chariot in Kenya just had an engine overhaul, however i am considering a complete engine change any ideas where i can get a new engine or an engine i can interchange

Chariot (aka was in three generations, each with multiple choices of engine. Mitsubishi Space Wagon, Mitsubishi Nimbus and Mitsubishi Expo, Dodge and Plymouth Colt Vista Wagon, Eagle Vista Wagon, Hyundai Santamo and Mitsubishi Savrin
Be careful to get the right engine for your vehicle.
You can try Powertrain Products, remanufactured engines, they may ship to Kenya and have good prices. (not sure why you want to swap an overhauled engine for another one, but that's your business.)

My geo metro egine have a ticking sound

If you have adjusted your valves and the ticking persists then try changing your exhaust manifold gasket. A leaking exhaust manifold gasket will often make a loud ticking sound.

97/Mitsubishi Nimbus with engine ticking noise

If the noise is from the top off the engine it is most likely a failed or failing lifter.

Why is my mitsubishi chariot grands ejecting blue and black smoke

u damaged the valve train or damaged a piston--blue smoke means ur burning oil pull the plugs to determine which cylinder[s] is or are affected the plug would be fouled or have build up on it and do a compression test --possible problems--bent valve--burnt valve-bad valve guide --bad rocker- bad lifter- valve spring broken

2001 mitsubishi eclipse 3.0l ticking noise

No. The valves are hydraulic. Pour about a coke tin amount of diesl in with the engine oil. Run the enginr to normal teperature. Drain the oil and refill with new oil. It sounds like a lazy or blocked follower. Once you do this it should disappear.
