Best to take it to mechanic with proper scan tool, he can do a cylinder balance test. This will tell whether it is an injector issue or something else. This is a complex system amd requires several test to isolate problem

Mk3 mondeo engine loud ticking like grinding all the time.just had problem with injectors.had all 4 replaced.the garage says piston slap

Is this a new noise your hearing? If your mechanic has correctly diagnosed the noise find more info here:

The distinctive noise of a diesel engine is variably called diesel clatter, diesel nailing, or diesel knock. Diesel clatter is caused largely by the diesel combustion process; the sudden ignition of the diesel fuel when injected into the combustion chamber causes a pressure wave. Engine designers can reduce diesel clatter through: indirect injection; pilot or pre-injection; injection timing; injection rate; compression ratio; turbo boost; and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).

I have a Peugeot 407 2006 2.2 diesel, when i start it the engine has a knocking noise. But when car warms up it stops. How can I cure this problem.

take it to an accredited diesel repair shop and have the injectors reconditioned
it indicates a problem injector that is not shutting off and is dribbling a small amount of fuel into the cylinder which is the precombusting causing the piston to slap the cylinder wall hard

Having a loud engine knock at star up and at idle.

Have a shop take a listen, the 5.3 V8 has a common noise called piston slap. The piston slap doesn't affect the life span of the engine, a trained ear will know the difference in the noise.

1998 Honda passport making a very loud knocking sound on start up and when excelarating. Top passanger side of engine.

Could be a piston slap, where the piston skirt is slapping the cylinder wall. If that is the noise, the piston would need to be replaced.

Knocking noise

Sounds like rod bearings, but may be piston slap. Add some motor honey to oil to thickn it up and see if that helps.

We recently had the timing chain jump on an Xtype Jaguar 2.0 diesel. We changed the timing chain and tensioner and fitted reconditioned delphi injectors, the car now has a very loud knocking sound coming...

make sure you have proper sealing washers under injectors, and you have only one washer in place ,ihave seen it happen before 2 washers will cause a loud knock if not that get injectors calibrated good luck

96 Suburban v8/7.4L/454 K2500, Knocking Noise??

sound like an internal engine problem. either one or more of the pistons has "piston slap" and that knocking will diminish as the engine warms up or possibly a rod bearing is worn out. have a tech do a manual oil pressure test to make sure the oil pump and main bearings are ok. piston slap or knock that decreases when the engine warms up is not that serious, but a rod bearing knock or possible oil pump failure should be taken care of asap.
