I have a 1985 chevy 3/4 ton with a turbo 350 that works in all gears except drive. put it in reverse, it goes backwards. put it in 2nd, it starts off in low and shifts to 2nd, and down shifts from 2nd to low, just like it should. put it in drive, no go. why?

Very possible you have a internal fault in the drive gear only.I would suggest that you remove it and have it rebuilt. We have a local company that rebuilds them for around 300 dollars.

I have a 1998 holden jackaroo SE automatic petrol car and it starts, reverse but when u put it in drive it doesn't drive if you press on the winter drive it goes so what's causing the problem?

Get a trained person to check the transmission. If it goes backwards but only goes forward in winter mode then there is a trans fault because auto's generally pull away in 2nd gear in winter mode to reduce wheelspin.

2007 Chevy Avalanche 3rd and 4th gear are not working

From what you are describing, it is possible either the 3-4 actuator is no longer playing with the 3rd & 4th clutch packs, only way to know for certain is to hook up the good ol' pressure gauge to trans. system, yeah, you think the Chevrolet dealer should know this right?

Sell it now if you can!

What transmission come out in a 1983 chevy silverado

It should be the 700 r4 transmission with the 350 block,
unless someone changed it out, it could be a turbo 350, if the truck is a 3/4 ton.
if you have 3 gears and over drive it is a 700 r4
only 3 gears turbo 350

1988 Chevy pickup will not move when put in reverse.

reverse synchronizer isnt getting proper lubrication or is worn down. Check lines, and change filter and screen or fluid. But normally in cases like this a gear has dropped and wont grip because the teeth cannot clamp when trans wants to spin.

Hope it works out! It can be expensive

Tranny goes in reverse but wont go into foward gears

how many miles on trans? does fluid smell burnt?350 turbos are good tranneys but they do go bad. in my experance its reverse that goes out first on thies transmissions but thats not saying that it does not happen the other way either. my best guess is you need a rebuild. when you say it tries to move in forward gear that tells me that the clutches are shot. 350 turbos are worth rebuilding. its up to you.
