Check to see if two plug wires are plugged into the wrong areas. That will make the engine miss with a soft popping noise if you have that sort of miss

Every time it starts raining truck starts missing and cutting out it's a 97 f 150 ford 4.6 motor.

Possibly a plug wire or cracked distributor cap. I'd take a spray bottle and while it's running (be careful not to get your body parts in danger of the fan) spray some water on the cap area. If everything seems fine, you could spray down each plug wire at a time. See if you find the culprit that way. For a vehicle so old, if you haven't done a tune up lately. It's probably a good time. Replace the distributor cap and rotor. Plugs and wires.

1984 240 SW. Why is engine knocking loudly?

Good start, but be sure to double check the firing order? Looks like long plug wires? Also, did you replace the rotor in the distributor? Could also be a hair-line crack in distributor cap...be sure to add 2 bottles of liquid Heet to remove water from the tank...Hope this helps.

Spark plugs will arc from around base of insulator to inside wall .

Well the only thing I can tell you about this is where are you getting your part from and if you always have a problem with the car with the same problem? Trying to get a better brand of parts or ether your distributor putting too much load to the ignition system

Your misfire can be cause by couple of things but the cheapest way that you can try to fix your car is to do a tune up by replacing:
1)all spark plugs
2)do a oil change
3)spark plug wires
3)distributor cap and rotor

note misfire can be cause by:
1.bad gas
2.spark plug and/or wire
3.distributor cap and/or rotor
4.valve adjustment
5.injector
6.off timing
7.ECM
8.bad wiring(power, ground or feed line)

I have a GMC Topkick lopro c6000 with a big block 366 and whenever im going up a hill or under heavy acceleration it intermittently pops and loses power. I thought it was the coil but i replaced it and it...

Hi. Changing the coil first was a good move. Since it did not solve this illusive problem now change the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and I believe your problem will be solved. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!!

2005 chevy cobalt 2.2 is running rough (putting)

Number three cylinder is miss fire,it does not mean it is the coil, although it could be,remove the coil, and boot, and spark plug, inspect them to see if the plug,or boot look bad, replace the spark plug, and if the boot is burned or distorted, replace it,a fuel injector can cause a miss fire also, but change the spark plug and see if this solves the problem,if not replace the coil,if it is a dead miss, then the coil might be bad,as for the water in the fuel ,the cap is missing,,and 5 dollars worth of HEET will not hurt, also, fuel from the fuel station, can have water in it.It happens a lot.

You may have some contaminated fuel, use a additive called heet, for moister, and lucas fuel treatment, these are premium additives,do not just use any brand, these I know will fix the problem if it is in the fuel.

It sounds like it's gonna die when i start it, like it don't want to stay running, but it don't die. could it be bad Gas? i just changed the fuel pump 3 months ago. any help would be nice

Hello and yes this can be bad gas. This also can be something that can be fixed with a simple fuel or air filter change as well. I would do a basic tune up of spark plugs and wires which may fouled out it sounds like, oil and filter, air filter, and fuel filter. I would also change the distributor cap and rotary button. These few tune up items may help your rough running automobile. If you have any other questions email me and I hope you resolve this issue.
