My 97 mercury sable 3.0 is very hard to start once started runs really rough for a second then smooths out

My first guess would be a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve.
Also one of the injectors could be leaking fuel into the cylinder when you stop the engine.
Is the check engine light on when the engine is running ?

What type of oil is best for 97 ford mercury sable wagon?

20/50 is fine unless you in a winter in alaska ,use cheapest oil you can buy an and change it every 6000miles with a oil filter every third oil change ,Do not use long life oils with silly oil change periods as this sort thing cause the engine to clag up inside with depoisits then when these deposits become thick enough they break off and clog the oil pump pick up pipe filter and then it has no oil and the big ends go bang bang crunch

My oil pressure light was coming on when I would come to a stop. There is plenty of oil in the car. Now the light is staying on the whole time while I'm driving

If your not hearing alot of tapping/ clattering, replace the oil sending unit. If you are replace the engine. bad bearings

When i start up my car it is okay, than it will

It is probably intake air temperature sensor that will trigger faulty code but sometimes it wont. When you have your vehicle on Idle speed will try to kill engine but when you accelerate will be fine untill you stop at traffic light will turn of the engine again.

'97 Mercury Sable coolant leak coming from under manifold cover, temp gauge does not show overheating, but steams out coolant under manifold cover

after you run the car for a while do you see that the oil on your dip stick looks milky? if so the leak is getting into the oil. If so this may be a blown head gasket.

Steam coming from the tailpipe of my car after replacing radiator

Question? Does the coolant get low as you drive? If so you may have a head gasket problem, stop driving it. Check the oil to see if it's milky, if not replace the head gasket, if the oil is milky, replace the engine.
