There should be no rattle or anything loose on or in the filter. If you have a rattle or something loose inside the filter I recommend changing it.

The filter has a one way valve inside of it to prevent gas backfilling to your tank. It just came loose from old age I suspect

Where is the fuel filter located on a 93 lexus ls 400?

Should be in front of driver side rear tire. There may be a splash guard that you need to remove to get at filter. Make sure no pressure on fuel system before you take any lines loose. Some fluid may come out of discounted fuel line, so be prepared. Loosing your gas cap may or may not help? Sometimes I plug the fuel line with something till I go back with new filter, then remove plug. I don't know if safely raising and supporting the vehicle, with tire removed will help? I'd have to look at it. There are safety issues anytime you work under a vehicle, safety is your responsibility.

Rattle and shake from front to rear of VW

The problem you describe is coming from your suspension .if your having fuel problems and your car is puttering or surging this will cause bad suspension to sound very noisy and make a lot of different shake and rattles

When i try to acclerate the car wont speed up...when i stop to long and try to go again the car stalls and then grinds...there is a continuous rattling noice also

I would first have the fuel pressure checked you may have a clogged fuel filter or a weak fuel pump. as far as the rattling that could be anything hopefully its not the engine rattling make sure you have oil in the engine and maybe the rattling is a loose heat sheild, good day.

I have a 1994 plymouth voyager and it stalls.

I had the same problem with mine. It ended up being the catalytic converter was clogged.

Have someone get under the van and rattle (kick, hit with hammer or something) the catalytic converter. If you hear a "rattleing" sound - then that's your problem.

it could be the wiring rattled loose or a nut or a screw has come loose inside the steering column, you might be able to get at it by loosening the plastic at the bottom of the dash below the steering column. or the worst thing could be something has broke loose..
