Check the brake light switch,it is most likely the problem, lift up on the brake pedal, and see if the lights go off, this may,or may not turn them off,the brake light switch is still the more likely fault.

Your brake light switch is at fault. It has a plunger on it which works as a light switch in your home. When depressed it turns on ther lights. When releasing the brake pedal it goes off. Yours is stuck and needs a replacement. its location is near the pedal you push for your brakes

This is most likely to be your brake switch near your foot pedal then. They can come lose, or just break completely, rare, but it happens.
Get down on the floor and check up behind your brake pedal, it should look fairly obvious where it is then.
Good luck with it.

Does any lights on the right side work? It sounds like the ground connection to the assembly is loose.

Brake lights came on for no reason

Hi my name is mike! if your brake lights are staying on there must be a problem with your brake light switch under the drivers side dash. up above your brake pedal it can break and cause the lights to stay on
