This is not an easy procedure for thid vehicle I'm sorry to say. This can be done from the top down. It will take socket wrenches and about 3 hours to remove and replace. Make sure The problem is the alternator and not the wires or relays before you start! Have the local auto parts store check your alternator before you start. Autozone will check the alternator and load test it for free.

It would be easier to pop your head under there and pull out the bulb and see what color the wire is that leads to the bulb.

1999 chevy malibu 6 cyl. Was driving and all of a sudden rmps went low car would not go even with foot to floor. Once I let the foot off car would go. When rmps are low all interior lights on dash...

It sounds like the alternator isn't working. If the battery voltage gets below 10.8volts it starts to shut systems down, like engine computer, fuel injectors, electrical loads(lights) etc. Get your alternator tested or replaced. Also make sure you battrey connections are clean and tight. If they are loose the alternator can't replenish the battery power due to excessive resistence in the cables.

How to replace an alternator on mazda 626 1999

OK, This worked well for me. Easier than some solutions I read on the internet.
This method does not require getting under the car.
1. Loosen the 17mm bolt on the belt tensioner pulley.
2. Turn the tension screw (10mm) conuter clockwise to losen the belt.
3. Remove the Serpentine belt.
4. Drain and remove the radiator. Catch the coolant, filter and reuse.
5. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery.
6. Remove the battery cable from the alternator and uclip the control connector.
7. Remove the top alternator support bolt.
8. Losen the bottom alternator support bolt. It will not come out. The support
bracket is a slot, not hole. The alternator bolt and all will slide out of the slot
directly toward the front of the car.
9. Lift the alternator out between the engine and AC condensor.
10. Reverse the procedure to install the new alternator.

Good Luck

Replace alterner

Evil job on the Northstar engine.

. Lives just above the front of sub frame on the passenger side. Needs patience and wriggling alternator out below once unbolted.

Might be easier with a lift. You need clearance under car to get to it anyway.

Try here for a shop near you:

Kind of a vague question here. I am assuming you are speaking of the pulley that is attached to the tensioner is bent. Either way I would suggest in replacing the tensioner. They have just he pulley you can take off your tensioner and rebuild it, but it is easier for the cost, and as a point of preventive maintnace to replace the entire tensioner, for the entire tensioner either 4 cyl or 6 is around 96$

How to remove the alternator on a 2000 isuzu rodeo

It is easiest to place the car on a lift and remove the alternator from the bottom. Disconnect the belt FIRST, then the wiring, and then the bolts mounting the alternator. Installation is the reverse. Make SURE you have the correct alternator for your application. Voltage regulators for the 4 cyl and V-6 were different.

How to replace alternator on 1999 ford taurus 6 cyl.

If this is for the 3.0L Vulcan engine, it's really easy. There are two mounting bolts and a stud nut. The mounting bolts go through the left side of the mounting bracket and through the alternator (it's at the top of the serpentine assembly). You'll have to take the stud not off from the lower intake manifold to remove the second mounting bracket. Make sure you disconnect the negative battery terminal first so that you don't fry anything. You'll also have to remove the nut that attaches the ground to the alternator and remove the wiring harness. The nut is enclosed in a black rubber pocket that protects the connection from moisture. After you've done all this, just pull it up and off the assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
