You use Dexron/mercon III (Factory recommended.) I prefer B&M synthetic or Amsoil when I can get it. I Also use Lucas conditioner in there. (expensive combination but it works)

How long? Using Dex, I wouldn't go more than 25K miles...Using synthetic you can stretch it out to 35 (or a bit longer). Remember though that when you drain the pan you are only changing about half of what is in there (remainder stays in the converter). So, if you are changing it for the first time or intervals before you owned it are unknown, change the filter, add fluid, run it about two weeks and drain pan from the pan drain plug and re-fill. That way even though you still haven't changed it all, you have done better than just removing the pan would. If you don't have a pan plug, just shorten the interval to the next change a bit.

doubtful to be a fuse , have you checked the trans fluid for quality and quantity , as both could affect the drive from trans , also have the OBD codes read

Drain fluid into a clean plastic bowl, check for brass cuttings or metal shavings in sunlight. If present get complete trans overhaul.

2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo hesitates in 2nd gear when cold

Is it manual or auto trans? If manual the gear lube is thicker when cold and the syncronizers tend to stick and not slide free for grind free shifting or for locking into gear.
If Auto trans if the jeep is warmed up setting then cycle the gears before driving. If that helps then the fluid is not getting through the valve body properly. It could be metal in the body or filter or cold seals are letting fluid by til the seals warm, expand and hold pressure. I'm assuming trans fluid is good, not old. One item that can lead to poor cold shift in an auto trans is a bad torque convertor. Since it seems to be a second gear issue the second section of the trans could have a bad seal. In an auto trans I'd take to a shop and have a cold pressure test done. They will tell which one is the problem.

What kind of oil and trans fluid

oil type is 10W-30W for mild climates, 5W-30W for cold climates or hot weather conditions.
The trans fluid type is DEXRON 4 (if still availiable) or better the new DEXRON 6, this fluid is either full synthetic or a blend and provides better trans performance and longer service life, Pennsoil makes a fairly cheap DEXRON 6, it is a blend...

How to change the radiator on a grand cherokee 1996

Likely you have finished this job already but I recommend you get a manual Although not really difficult, instructions for this are too long to re-write. If your vehicle has an auto trans, don't forget to "top-off_ trans fluid after job is finished. Also I recommend that you go over hose clamps again after running as cold hoses often soften up when warm and will not retain proper sealing.
