Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. that housing that the hose attaches to the engine is where the thermostat is. Its a real job on that engine. Easiest way is to take the throttle body off. good 1-2 hr job.

Heater does not work

The heater not working. This problem is related to few possibilities 1) The thermostat can be faulty. 2) the heater blower motor resistor is faulty 3) The heater blower motor it self is faulty. ------------ The The blower resistor is behind glove-box on plenum.Connect the 12 volt battery directly to the heater blower motor and see,if the motor runs then its faulty resistor or thermostat.but if no motor running then its faulty motor. The thermostat is located at the top front of the engine. For easy access follow the top radiator hose. The top radiator hose goes in engine .Take that hose out and thermostat will be seen inside. --------- The thermostat and resistor are not very costly part.So you can directly replace them and see if its helping.First confirm motor is working,by directly by passing the blower motor to 12 volt battery. ------------ This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a 1997 nissan pickup and i cant find the thermostat

Locate the upper radiator hose on the radiator. Follow it back to where it connects to the motor. There should be a housing that the hose connects to that is held in place by 2 to 3 bolts. Remove the housing and the thermostat should be under that. The Temp sensor is a little harder to locate as it will be on the motor, usually near the manifold, and has two wires running to it.

Where is the thremostat located

In BMW 328 To locate the thermostat follow the hose from the right side of the radiator to the motor at that connection there is thermostat. There should be 3 bolts which you will have to remove to take off the thermostat. In BMW 328i The thermostat is located behind the viscous fan and approx 9inches above the center of the fan. The viscous fan drives the water pump and the thermostat housing is just above the water pump at the front of the engine. The thermostat is a one piece unit and is a bit expensive £55 at dealers £42 independent. You will need to remove the viscous fan to get at it there are special spanners for this and its a 30mm socket left hand thread ( screws off clockwise). Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Where is the thermostat located between top

On 1998, 4.6 32 valve engines, the thermostat is located in the radiator to block hose. if you look directly under the power steering reservoir you should see it.

The thermostat has 3 hoses running from it. 2 are approx. 1.5" in dia. and one is approx .750" in dia. The .750" hose leads up to the coolant reservoir. and yes it is under the power steering reservoir. Access to the thermostat is from the bottom side. You will need an 8mm socket to remove the two bolts. Removal of the bottom radiator hose is mandatory.

Hope helps with this (remmeber rated this help).

Location of thermostat

just follow the lower radiator hose to where it connects to the motor, the metal tube it connects to has either 2 or 3 bolts holding it to the motor, simply remove these bolts, remove the housing that the hose hooks too, and the thermostat is right inside there.

Where is the faulty thermostat located at

The thermostat is located on the motor normally where the upper radiator hose meets the block. You can normally see the large buldge where the thermostat is housed and is usually bet 2 and 3 bolts holding it on.

Car is overheating

The thermostat is located at the end of the top radiator hose where it connects to the engine. There is a thermostat housing there.
1. drain enough coolant to make the water level below the thermostat height.
2, Remove the two bolts that hold the housing to the engine.
3. remove the thermostat and scrape off the old gasket and sealant from the housing and manifold.
4. install new thermostat (point side UP)
5, use Permatex #2 non-hardening gasket sealant ($3 AutoZone)
