Sounds like you have one or more bad wheel sensors. This could happen if you have a bad wheel bearing since the sensor is in the bearing.

What does 'Trac" have to do with The ABS system on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT?

Your traction control and ABS system use the same wheel speed sensors to control each system. They are separate, but use the same inputs to let the computers know what the wheels are doing.

Abs light and traction control light is on

as you know there is an antilock brake electrical problem. traction control is part of the abs system and the lights will come on at the same time. Unfortunately you will need to get the trouble codes from the antilock brake controller. this can only be done with a very expensive scan tool. there are too many possible problems to be guessing. If you go to your local shop they will probably give you the trouble codes for about 75 dollars or less then I could possibly be of more help to you.

What does low track mean when it keeps poping up.

It means you have traction control. When it comes on, you are losing traction to one of your drive wheels and the traction control is activated to keep you moving. In other words, it's doing its job. Sounds like its working well too.

My trac light says trac off, and my abs light is on. what does that mean? I have a 1999 grand am Pontiac.

the trac light is the traction control, the abs light means the antilock brake system is not functioning properly. the trac control is no issue. the abs will not cause the brakes to fail but they will lock instead of pulsing.

2000 grand am se abs light an trac off light and service engine soon light stays on, but i got the car scan and no codes come up

If you had the car scanned with a generic OBDII code reader (Which is what they use at all the parts stores) this is probably why it is not showing any codes. You have "Vehicle Specific" codes. This means that the problem with your Check Engine light is not a problem that will generate a "generic" OBD code. A generic OBD code reader will not read codes from your Antilock Brake System or your Traction Control System at all... You need to have it scanned professionally by someone who has the proper equipment and software to access the Controller Area Network (CAN) in your vehicle.

In the pontiac grand prix, is the traction control 4wheel drive or similar?

No! Traction control works similar on various automobile manufactures. There are speed sensors attached to the brake calipers or brake parts of the car sensing how fast each tire is turning. This information is feedback to the powertrain brain box. If the computer determines that one drive wheel is turning faster than the other in a split second brake pressure is placed automatically to the wheel that is turning faster, both wheels turn at nearly the same rate. This is done agin automatically by the antilock brake power controller.

On the specific car that you speak of, I don't believe all wheel drive was an option. So only the front wheels pull the vehicle forward.

Will not go over 25mph

Could be a frozen brake pad/ emergency break. The other option is the antilock breaks or traction control is not allowing the tires to move faster then 25mph

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix... The Abs

the trac shuts off when theres a check engine light or a abs light on, most likely theres a bad abs wheel sensor but you will have to have the abs computer scaned to find out which one it is. hope this helps.

Abs light, trac light, service engine soon light 2001 Pontiac Grand Am

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.
