Question about Ford Contour
Remove the wheel, the brake caliper, and brake hose bracket,if needed, remove the ball joint nut,or pinch bolt, then use a pry bar,a very large one,and hook it in the control arm and pry down, until the ball joint comes out of the spindle.Of course you may have to separate the joint from the arm with a separator.Remove the axle nut,and you will have to press the axle out of the spindle while pulling out on the spindle,do not pull on the axle, and push the axle out of spindle as you pull out on the spindle, not to pull axle apart,or it will damage the axle.Once the axle is out of the spindle, the axle will pop out with a pry bar from transmission.Pry against the transmission,up against the axle .Kind of **** the pry bar ,to pop the axle out.Reverse order to reinstall the axle, but the control arm is a tough one to align the bar joint back in line to put it back to the control arm.
