Brake light switch mounted near the steering column up by the brake pedal pivot. Two or more wires depending on whether Cruise control is present.

The brake lights on my 94 nissan pickup won't turn off. Do I need to replace the brake light switch? If not what could be the source of the problem and/or what do I need to do to fix the problem?

This problem is caused by a defective brake light switch, the switch is either out of adjustment (it is a threaded adjustment) or is defective, it is located under the dash and at the top of the arm the brake pedal is attached to. There will most likely be a plastic panel under the dash you will need to remove to see the switch. Here is a picture of the brake light switch.

Where is the 1989 deville brake light switch

The switch is located near the brake pedel under the dash. the pedel stem will push on the switch when you step on the brake. Just follow the pedal from the bottom to the top under the dash and you will find it. It should look like this. dcramer531_107.jpg

Unable to shift out of park upon starting. Pressing on brake petal upon shifting. Also noticing my brake lights are not coming on during this procedure. Owners manual mentioned about the gearshift anti...

Sounds like since the park lock and the brake lights are both inoperative, the faulty component would be the brake light switch which should be just above the brake pedal under the dash.

More info, let me know.

What could be wrong if my brake lights don't work? I have check the basics and fuses already. All other lights are working but if I press the brakes nothing happens.

First check the brake light switch,to see if current gets to bothsides or through the switch, with the peddle down,so it will direct the current to the brake lites. If it is dead on both sides, check the source to it from the turn signal switch,in the steering column.

I have no power to brake light switch and i checked all fuses under the dash and under hood is there another power source?

check the contacts at the bulbs itself, it may have corroded or rusted over, try file them down to establish a fresh contact, above the brake pedal should be two wires the earth for the brake pedal is there test that aswell. file the contacts on the bulbs aswell.

What do the under dash fuses go to?

check your ground wire in the truck for the rear tail lights, if the u mention the tail lights r u referring to the brake lights , this is a system that receives power from three separate source so if noe work it would have to be in the wirering to fix the problem
