First thing you have to do is go to auto zone or advance auto parts and find out why your check engine light is on they do this for free then you will know where to start.

I would get the engine light checked first to let you know where to start but you probley have a misfire in which case you might have to change the spark plugs or at least run a good heavy dose of injector cleaner through it.

You will need to find out if the engine light code is related to your problem. This is the only way you can diagnose these problems.

Anytime anything goes wrong with the car that is performance related you will need a diagnostic scanner to see whats happening inside and outside the computers.

2004 Ford Taurus got AC Clutch replaced and now a check engine light came on. Car seems to heat up ever since replaced AC. What could be the problem?

check to see if the radiator and A/C condenser are clear of airflow obstructions (damage, excessive leaves and dirt, etc). Check to make sure that the electric fans are running. There are 2 speeds. As it warms up, it should go slow, then when it gets hot, the fans should go to high speed. Check also to see if radiator is blocked up. It should be at engine temp on one side, and it should be cooler, but still warm, on the other side. Neglected coolant causing rust and debris blockages in the radiator are common to these cars. If the coolant is rusty and orange/brown, it may also indicate a failing water pump

Light that looks like exclamation point in a circle located below tachometer flashing.

First off you need an owner's manual. You can get a free one here. http://pdfservicemanual.com/automotive/2001-ford-taurus-owners-manual The light that looks like a gear with an exclamation point inside indicates there is a problem with the transmission. May just be low of transmission fluid. To check the level dive the car until the transmission is warm, park on a level surface, place gear shift in park with engine running, and check transmission fluid level. Add only if necessary and do not overfill. If it is not low of fluid then seek professional help. The exclamation point in a circle under the fuel gauge next to the Brake light indicates you are low of brake fluid. Check the level of the brake fluid. If it is low you more than likely need to check your brake pads as they are worn out.

Oil light flickers on and off however dipstick is showing full of oil. Suggestions? Thanks....

One of two things may be happening. If the oil light stays off until the engine warms up and then begins to flicker on/off when you are idling & in gear [say at a stop sign] then you could actually have low oil pressure due to worn internal engine parts, OR, you could have a faulty sending unit that is reading the pressure incorrectly [usually low] and turning on the light. The best way to find out for sure is to have someone remove the sender and thread in an oil pressure test gauge to check and see exactly how much oil pressure you really have when the engine is first started and fully warmed up. You could just simply replace the sender and if the flickering is gone after that then you should be ok but if the flickering continues then odds are you actually do have low oil pressure. I would strongly recommend having the oil pressure tested for peace of mind then you'll know for certain what is happening. Engine bearings don't survive very long without sufficient oil pressure so you should have it checked out asap.

My 2004 Ford Taurus engine is always on and there doesnt seem to be a problem. is this a common malfuntcion of this model? (with the engine light always being on?)

generally indicates the computer is sensing something out of sorts with the system of the car. Take to a dealer, mechanic, or autozone to have computer scanned to diagnose the cause of the light coming on.

This same thing happened to me it was the oil sending unit that needed to be replaced. It's an easy fix but you have to take off the heat shield to get to it.

I have a 2004 rx330 and when I take off after about 10mph there is a constant roar sounds like the transmission is not shifting. However the tranny is shifting fine it seems to be coming from the drivers...

sounds to me like either the drive shaft axle bearing is wearing out or the rear end gear on the left side uis going out. check the rear end for gear oil level if its low that could mean your rear end is about to go out.

2001 ford taurus TRANSMISSION PROBLEM

most likely due to a stripped out torque converter or a broken pump shaft. trans. has to come out to repair either or. you should make sure the fluid is full first. with the car running and warm, check fluid- if it seems over full, the pump shaft is broken, if it's just full- probably the torque conv., if its low add trans. fluid (mercon 5) 1 qt. at a time until in crosshatched area on the dipstick. hope this helps and good luck
