You are talking about the trailer option button on the end of the shift select lever ?
I would say a fuse, check there first, and there is also a relay.
As far as I can tell all this switch does is take the tranny out of overdrive, which you can do with shift lever manualy.
If you do not find the problem, you may have to replace the switch.

I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. The tow/haul light turns on (yellow) and will not turn off. Is this a problem?

It is if, it is locking out your overdrive. Check to see if it shifts into all the gears your transmission has... ie. 5 speed = 4 shifts.

I have a 2001 chevy silverado pick-up, regular cab, with a tow/haul option. How much weight can I safely haul on the highway in the bed? GVWR is 6100 lb, 3686 lb on the rear, but what is the curb...

Here is a link to specs for that year model of truck, I would need more info such as auto/manual, and 4x4 or not. Anyway it's an easy chart to read. But technically speaking a 1/2 ton pickup is only rated to carry 1,000 lbs in the bed. I wouldn't personally suggest doing more than that, if you overload the bed you can have trouble steering and stopping. I hope this Helps please rate this thank you

Tow haul mode wont work in 2005 silverado

My tow haul on my 2001 sierra started acting up intermittently about a year ago and then quit completely. I found the problem today, the wire at the base of the gear selector has broken off. On the 2001 simply pop the tilt lever straight out (toward the driver's door, no screws - it just pulls out with a little tug) and the bottom of the steering column cover snaps out of place (it's not screwed in either but my chilton's manual says some of the other years are). I just soldered the wires and covered with a heat shrink. It's working as good as new.
It looks like the wires were tight even upon manufacture and it sounds like a common problem according to all of the similar questions. I re-routed the wire to gain a little free play but not enough to interfere with any of the ignition / gear shifter mechanisms.

Tow/haul does not work on 2000 chevy truck. whereis fuse?

I had a problem with my tow/haul button not working. I came to find out that the gear shift had cut the wire running to the button in two. You may want to check that.

Transmission tow/haul mode

Hi, the problem is when you are tilting the steering wheel all the way up it's putting to much tenstion on the wires that come outof your shifter that run to the tow/haul button. i am 99% sure your wires are disconected. rewire them and add some extra wire so next time there will be more slack in your wires.
