Kia Spectra Was Driven Hot , It Overheats And Blows White smoke,is This A Serious Problem or Fixable Its Not Seized!! It Runs But Gets Hot!!

If you overheat an engine with a cast iron block and an aluminium head, they will expand at different rates as they have different expansion coefficients. This will usually cause separation of the gasket and if you are losing coolant, it's a near certainty. The answer is a new gasket (pennies) plus a head skim at a local engineering shop, $100 or so (otherwise it won't seal again). You need a torque wrench and a workshop manual to check the torque settings and slackening/tightening order if doing it yourself, otherwise you'll cause further warping of the head. If the head isn't skimmed, it will go again after 50 miles or so.

The spectra uses a timing belt. The recommended interval to change is every 60K miles.

How many miles should i change my timing belton my 2003 kia spectra

The Recommended Interval is every 60K miles. Your mileage may vary. I would NOT let it go much more then 65K as you will be asking for some real trouble if it fails.

Luckily this is a relatively painless job on the spectra versus some other cars out there. If you are handy it should take about 2.5-3 hours. A walk though can be found at:

the p0030 is the heater circuit in the o2s bfore the cat. as long as there has been no one cutting through the fire wall(which i have seen) and into harness trying to install a stereo then you should be able to replace the o2 sensor which should still be under warranty. the p0016 has to do with the crank/cam sensor which could be going bad. how does it run? if it runs good or wont start, replace the sensor. happy holidays

Kia spectra wont start

it is probably the starter assuming the engine isnt locked up. I would check to see if you have battery voltage at the starters solenoid wire with the key in the start position if you do i would check the fuses and starter relay
