A couple ways to tell is to check the vacuum. If its low then the timing belt is off a tooth or two . Another way is to check the data on a scanner and check to see if you have any codes.
And the last way is to double check all your marks. on the cam and the crankshaft.
All we can do is guess since we dont know the year or engine size but even if we knew this we would still have to use diagnostic tools and hands-on inspection.
