It has a very small screw on the knob it self towards the bottom. Loosen and pull up undo wiring and unscrew center link rod - replace knob

2005 navigator won't come out of park. Fuses checked brake switch changed. Release solenoid not receiving power to activate. Do i have to change the entire shifter assembly?

Hi Robert, I'm glad to help!

Robert on Chrysler vehicles. Sometimes its not the power or ground or even the release solenoid. Most of the time its the mechanical mechanism inside the shifter itself. I would call the dealer and see if they have problems with the shifter not coming out of park. The other thing I'd like to see you check is: When you unplug the cable from the shifter can you manually shift gears. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Robert.

My 2004 Lincoln Navigator wont shift into gear. Whats the problem?

Check the solenoid mechanism on the shifter to check that it is disengaging the shift lock mechanism when the brake switch and ignition are on.

The lights on the shift do not light up 2005 Lincoln navigator

Have to remove the console cover around shifter,
to get at & replace the small lamps

A plastic item like a putty knife may work
You may have some screws to remove somewhere
forward of the shifter, such as ash tray trim etc

2005 Navigator cant get it out of park? Button on side of gear shift wont budge when I push it in to try to reverse or drive

Does the brake lights work? If so try turning key forward just a little but not so far as to turn on lights, Try to move shifter then, If it moves? The shift interlock has malfunctioned, You can use that procedure to drive the vehical, Just do that and put in neutral and start the select your gearing, That way you dont have to tow it to a repair shop.. If the brake lights do not work? Check the fuse to it, If its good replace the brake light switch

The neutral safety switch might need adjusting. That is what makes it necessary to press the brake pedal before you can shift out of park. it is also possible that something broke inside the shifter. Many parts are made of plastic and it isn't just Ford products that are having this problem.

Can not remove the shifter knob. Need to replace

Some knobs need to be physically unscrewed while others have tiny little screws at the base that lock the knob into place

I have a 2005 navigator the shifter is stuck in the parking position the button moves in a little but not all the way and the shifter does not moves is there any other way of puting it to work

Its a sensor under the brake. You can actually pull the shifter with a little force and it will go into gear. It will cost about $400 at a good garage. Looking at $600 and more at dealer. When you force it into gear, you are not hurting the transmission, just over riding the sensor. Your "D" will not light up on the dash or at the shifter untiol you fix it.
