Question about Chevrolet C1500
If your signal lights are working the circuits to the rear are OK and would still suspect a problem at the brake switch or power through it.
If they don't work either it's possible you may have a broken or corroded wire or a problem in the tail light circuit board itself.
The wires at the back are yellow on the left and dark green on the right. These carry your signal light power as well as the brake.
Does the center brake lamp on the cab work? If it does you have power from the brake switch. If it doesn't the following paragraph does not apply as the problem will be at the brake switch or power to it.
Another possible problem is in the signal light switch. Power from the brake light switch goes to the signal switch where the power is divided into each rear side.
I would like to suggest to wiggle the emergency flasher switch while applying the brake.
Wires at the switch; orange should have power all the time and white should have power when brakes applied.
