I thought when I had my transmission gear chains repaired at 67k that this would keep it going another 67k miles, however I haven\'t thought of changing or flushing out the transmission I will ask my not VW mechanic about this his prices are less and stands by his work better than the dealer in Keene NH. all I know is I don\'t feel safe driving to far from home with this happening. IT could be a cold issue its been mighty cold here and the car doesn\'t have a garage but I warm it up for about 10-15 min before I drive it, like I said when its cold it doesn\'t jerk its when the gauge is in the middle stating its warmed up it jerks when I slow down in lower gears and then when I start up again in the lower gears it seems like it needs help in making the chains work there are two metal chains in the VW jetta one for the front and one for the back and its the back that is catching, you would think that Andrew the service manager for many years would have know the answer and would have reassured me it is minor or something other than it will cost you 1500-5000 dollars for repair at that rate I want to sell the car and move on.

I have no post solution for anyone else but I sure can tell you I don\'t think that VW are a top car to buy unless you buy the extended warranty which I had when the chains were replaced.

Have a f12 volvo with sr 70 gearbox it works fine while cold but when it warms up when you try to select high range it blocks the gear stick from going into gear if you drop the high/low selector lever...

sounds like the selector mechanism , not to conversant with this gearbox , i would advise a professional diagnosis before something goes horribly wrong , if it's not working as it should it can't mend itself so get a mechanic to have a look, hope this helps

Auto gearbox gets stuck in reverse gear.

This is likely a sticking valve in the transmission valve body assembly, try adding a can of Lucas brand transmission additive.

I have a 12/2000 grandure, it sticks in 3rd gear of the auto trans, but only when it has warmed up, u can reset it by stopping turning the ignition off and re starting, but only until it hits third gear...

Time for a gearbox oil change. As the oil gets older it breaks down and that means it heats up too quickly, meaning it will not allow the auto to change gears properly. As you have switched the engine off and restarted it tricks the ECU into thinking that the gearbox oil is cold until it reaches too high levels.

Change the oil soon as an auto box rebuild isn't cheap.

Hope this helps.

OD on Auto gearbox goes into neutral when cold

You need to have your transmission serviced. The fluid has gotten so thick in there that it builds up too much pressure and your transmission will either kick it out of gear or blow up. I'm glad it actually still works. Once the oil warms up it thins right out and it works no prob. Just service your tranny, and you'll be fine.

Gear box for ed sedan

If the actual gear stick is hard to move you will find the linkages are stuck on something, if it moves freely and still doesnt change theres two things it could be, first is motor was incorrectly installed or second is the gearbox has gone into limp mode, limp mode is a factory set mode that keeps the car in 3rd gear for a 3 speed or 4th in a 4 speed, in the ba's i had this problem with my car, limp mode is only a safety measure to get you home and should be looked at immediatley.

Chrysler voyager automatic transmission problem

Sounds like you have yourself a bad shift solenoid pack this is mounted on the front of the transmission under a thick rubber boot and has an 8 or 10mm bolt holding a plug into it, these usually fail hot as it is an electronically controlled solenoid and there are tiny little springs and magnets inside that can stick also while you are in there do yourself a favor and change the two speed sensors on the transmission they are about $22 each and can also cause the problem you are explaining. the shift solenoid pack is about $120 on ebay and some sellers actually sell them along with the input and output speed sensors you may try changing those first and see if it solves it but i have a feeling your solenoid pack is failing also when you change these parts it may take the computer a few trips to relearn shift points but you'll know it fixed it right off the bat.. please rate and good luck -jeff
