If you mean the ignition cyclnder (where the key goes) you have to remove the airbag and steering wheel and get inside the steering column to replace it.

NOTE
If possible, replacement of the head bolts is suggested.
  1. If replacement of the head bolts is not possible, perform the following bolt measurement:
    1. Measure the diameter of the head bolt 0.43 in. (11mm) from the bottom of the bolt.
    2. Measure the diameter of the head bolt 1.89 in. (48mm) from the bottom of the bolt.
    3. Whenever the size difference between the 2 measurements exceeds 0.0043 in. (0.11mm) the head bolts must be replaced.
  2. Install the cylinder head bolts and torque in sequence as follows:
    1. Step 1: 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm).
    2. Step 2: Completely loosen all bolts.
    3. Step 3: 25-33 ft. lbs. (34-44 Nm).
    4. Step 4: plus 90-95 degrees clockwise.
    5. Step 5: plus 90-95 degrees clockwise.

2003 mini cooper ignition coil replacement

the bolt sleeves are not meant to come off, if you have bought an OEM coil then they should slide straight into the 4 corner holes in the coil but I suspect you have bought a performance coil such as an MSD unit, which has copper sleeves in the holes already that need drilled out slightly to allow the stock sleeved bolts to fit, or as you say you can buy new unsleeved bolts and just use them. Dont tighten them enough to crack the casing of the coil, it is not necessary to have them dog-tight.

Change drive belt //

check this out 02bdcd0.jpg
loosen the the two bolts (show on the figure above) first
loosen also the bolt used for adjusting tension.
remove the old worn-out belt.
place the new belt (you may need to loosen further the tension adjusting bolt)
when belt is properly place, tighten it enough the tension adjusting bolt,
(not too tight, but not too loose) press the belt to ensure its not too loose!
When belt tightness is enough, tighten the the other lower one of the two bolt then the lastly tighten the pivot bolt.
gookluck!!!!

Please help

remove the cowling around the steering wheel place the key into the ignition, you should be able to find a small pin hole on the side of the ignition barrel get a strong pin or pick and push it into the hole with the ignition turned to acc then pull the key the barrel should then pull out of the steraring collum.

if the reson you are replacing the ignition is that the key wont turn you will have to replace the holl igition set up which means you will have to pull the stearing wheel off and stearing collum out of the car (IF YOU HAVE SRS AIR BAGS DISCONECT THE BATTERY AND LEAVE THE CAR TO SIT FOR 5 MINUTS)
( UNDER THE STEARING WHEEL IS A ITEM CALLED A CLOCK SPRING DO NOT MOVE THIS YOU WILL RECONISE IT WHEN YOU SEE IT, MAKE SHOUR THE WHEELS ARE IN THE STRAIGHT AHEAD POITION BEFOR COMENCING THIS PROCEDURE. IF YOU MOVE THE CLOCK SPING YOU MAY DAMAGE IT AND CAUSE HUNDREDS OF DOLLERS WERTH OF DAMAGE)
once the collum is out you will need a center punch and hammer to slowley turn the 3 shear off bolts that hold the ignition,
remove old ignition and fit new shear the heads off the new bolts and refite the collum and steearing wheel to car.

( please if you are not shore that you can do this procedure take it to a qualifide tecnishion as the air bag system can be very dangeruse)

good luck
