I would check the Mobil 1 website, that car takes special oil. If you dont know where the filter is, better let someone else change the oil for you. Dont depend on these cheapy lube shops to put the right oil in. Do your homework and get the correct oil. I'm sure there are some Mini sites and groups you can refer to on the web.

Everyone will have an opinion on brands..VW recommends 5w40 synthetic at 10,000 mile intervals.. (505.00 spec) You can use any weight you want as long as it is a 505.00 spec oil.. but 5w40 will is a good all season all around way to go.

505.01is backward compatibles so to speak.. just an fyi.

Castrol Syntec 5w40(Only available at VW Dealer) or Mobile 1 TDT (Turbo Diesel Truck) 5w40 are two you can rely on doing a good job.

You can find the Mobile 1 TDT at most auto parts stores.. I would recommend you use the Volkswagen Filter or one made by Mann, they also make a respectable one equal to or according to some better than the VW.

The opinions are all over the place on oil brands but all agree on sticking with one that meets the 505.00 spec.. and most generally agree on using the factory filter or a really well made aftermarket one as mentioned.. If you don't want to spend the hours reading all the postings.. stop by the dealer and pick up the standard VW version.

Also most folks nowadays agree on keeping to the mfg recommended intervals.. unless you are operating in harsh environments..typically the mfg has recommendations for that as well.

Which oil is the best.. Take your pick of the major brands as long as they meet the spec's.. The two I mention have better "soot capture" ability therefore may better protect your pollution control devices.

Best of luck!

Mazda 6 problems 2006 when i start the car it makes a ticking noise but after warming up it go's

what you may need is only a high mileage oil change should be using a castrol [in cold weather only] 30weight oil. i suggest a fram oil filter. i also suggest you use lucas oil treatment in with the oil change. your vehicle holds a 5quart oil change right? use 4 quarts of castrol oil and 1 quart of lucas oil treatment in with it that leaves one quart out.add the fram oil filter. if you are a do it your selfer you know what i mean. if not, do this,do not go to wal-mart,or a quick oil change place. use a local garage that you can trust. buy your supplies in advance, at autozone or advance auto, nappa auto, or wherever you trust for the best buy.all you need to pay for is labor only for oil change but demand they use your supplies and watch them to insure they do! the oil change is regular, but the lucas will cost $10.00 more on top of the oil can get a DEAL on fast track oil change, yeah right! do this once, and you will never use fast track again!you will get top engine lubrication which will remove that clatter. you will also gat 10.000 more miles between oil changes! you get what you pay for right? i have a 1994 ford explorer with over 400.000 miles on it now. just trying to see it i can go a million miles with it.i do my oil change every 45.000 miles. with no oil added in between oil changes.change your oil,use 30weight castrol oil in winter, use 40weight castrol in summer usea fram oil filter, the chatter will go away when you first start it. your engine will be lubricated well and you will be happy not hearing the chatter during the first start. thank you for choosing we are always here!

When I start the engine first thing in the morning it makes a clattering sound, until it runs for a minute

the clattering is most likely valves rattling until the oil gets up to top of engine, recommend change the oil and filter, use a good filter like fram oil filter,i've always used castrol 30 weight oil in winter, then summer 40 weight, also recommend you add lucas oil treatment,1 bottle, add with your oil change for top end lubrication, the oil stays and clings onto valves and adds a whole lot more of top end lubrication to your engine than just regular's just a treatment,i have a 1994 ford explorer with 450.000 miles on it.just trying to see how far i can go with original motor.but i always use castrol oil, fram oil filter and always add lucas oil treatment every time i change my oil.thank you for choosing good luck!

Just bought a 1998 honda prelude 2.2l auto and would like to find out what is the recommended weight of oil

personally,i prefer castrol 30 weight with a fram oil filter.castrol oil is non detergent,no sludgy build up in valve covers after years of use. fram filters do not break down or fold up under pressure.been doing this for 20 years and no problems with oil or filters summer time you can move up to 40 weight oil no problem! in winter 30 weight so the oil will not be so heavy!good luck!thank you for choosing

I want to check audi r8 all the oil spec, how??

The engine oil specifications for Audi R8 4.2 FSI V8
- Quantity: 14.2 liter
- Type: Castrol Edge 5W-30
- Oil change intervals: Max. 12 Months / Max. 15000 km

Castrol have developed EDGE 5W-30 in co-operation with the VW Group. This oil sets new standards in the industry in regards to cleanliness of the engine, thereby reducing harmful emissions and subsequent damage to the environment.

The technology in this oil also reduces long term blocking thereby prolonging the life of the diesel particulate filter.

Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is equally suitable for gasoline and diesel vehicles where performance specifications VW 504 00 and 507 00 are demanded.

In addition to its cleaning properties, EDGE 5W-30 antiwear technology provides strong protection for modern FSI, TDI and turbocharged engines.

EDGE 5W-30 is also approved for use in modern BMW and Mercedes gasoline and diesel engines including those equipped with a DPF that require BMW Longlife -04 or MB-Approval 229.51.

What is the best oil to be placed in a bmw 523i 2006 ?

I always use Castrol Edge in mine. I like to service and change oil and filter every five thousand kilo....But I do live in a very dusty place.
I like Castrol oils if you prefer a different brand always go for the synthetic high performance oil formulated for the engine in your vehicle.

92 xlt, I just changed oil to 10/30 castrol

its a 92 so im guessing it has a few miles on it ( i have one with 355k on it). i would put high milege oil in it evin if it doesnt have a ton of miles on it. just go to your prefered auto parts store (like advance auto parts, my personal favorite) and explain your situation and they should be able to point you toward the proper oil. :)

You need to use Hyundai Diamond ATF SP-II M or any fluid which lists compatible. I recommend Hyundai brand fluid but aftermarket is ok. The listing would be on the bottle. Do no use Dextron / Mercon fluids.

please rate my anwers.
