Can you please explain more indetail about your concern.
Did you mean to say " ignition SWITCH shorted, computer has shut down ?
Please check thr following, check your fuses and make sure they are all good, there are also fusues under your hood in a black plastic case marked " FUSES"
There you will find fuses and relays.
I quess my biggest question is why did the system short out ?
Please relay back to me what you have found, on your 2006 Chevy trailblazer, with which engine ?

Could be a problem in the ignition circuit. Check or test coil and ignition module-one of them may be shutting down or shorting out when they get hot.
Verify by checking for spark at a plug wire immediately after it shuts off: if no spark, it is an ignition problem. Besides the coil and ignition module, other possibilities are the crank position sensor, cam position sensor, ecu, the ASD relay (automatic shuit down relay-it's in the power distribution box under hood). If that relay fails, all power is cut to coil and fuel injectors, and maybe the fuel pump also.
Good luck.

2000 MAZDA 626 IGNITION SWITCH

I have the exact make, model, year in the repair shop right now with the same symptoms. Horrible screeching noise after starting the vehicle, and smoke coming from the ignition area. Most likely it is a short in the ignition switch. It could have also affected the starter module but I would start with the ignition switch.

Just bought an L200 from a private party for our daughter. Has 71,000 on it and everything seems to be in great condition only the ignition "dinging" does not shut off. We bought this thinking it would...

This is a simple problem, its located on the ignition swith, theres an internal lever switch that conyrols the dinging make sure thats not broken or stuck, removal of the steering cover is needed, another problem is the dinger itself may be shorted, you can unplug it, the point of it is to tell you keys are in the switch or headlight are on, just unplug it.

I start my car but it immediatly shuts off and the theft sys light flashes could this light be the reason?

the ignition swith reads the key chip when key is turned, this is a common problem, the ignition switch will need to be replaced, after replacing the swith reprograming will be needed, to program you will need a battery charger to keep battery from going dead, after installing new switch, turn charger on, turn key to crank then release key leaving ignition on, you will see the dash lights, leave key on for about 15-20 min, until you see theft light go out, if light doesnt go out then repeat process, crank for 2 sec, then leave key on 15-20 mins until security/theft light goes out, hope this helps.

Periodic stall issue. All guages go to zero,

Sounds like an intermittent short in the wire harness or ECU(computer).
If you can locate the computer(in the passenger side kickpanel), try
tapping on it with a plastic handled screwdriver handle, to see if the car
suddenly shuts down? If it does, your computer is shot. Good luck.

I have a 1995 bonnneville pontiac, when you turn

did you leave the key in the run possition? if you did not then try again with the key in run. if it stays running then you have problem with ignition fuse, ignition swith or neutral safety swith.
if the car will not stay running then you may have a problem with anti-theft system. to tell if you have that feature, just look at the key to see if there is a little chip on the key near the handle.
if it is then more likely the transponder in the ignition lock cylinder is bad. there are two little wires that broke all the times.

2006 tahoe with heated seats. when the seat is

The heating element in the seat may be failing, even thogh it heats the seat, the element could be causing the circut to spike upon power shut down. Relay takes mili-second to shut down after ignition kill and power feed comes direct from battery. Check amp. draw at switch of bad seat and good seat upon shut down. If bad seat higher that 5 amp difference element n/g. Also check for bad relay as they can short internal and cause problems if primary power cut before switch shut down.

How do you replace the ignition swith?

the ignition switch is actually on the steering column below the steering wheel. after removing any plastic that might be in the way you will see a metal rod that moves up and down when the key is turned, where the metal rod ends going down is the ignition switch.

With my daytime running lights on when i turn ac on the ac does not work and running lights go off . if i put ac on max it generally comes back on within a few seconds. if i turn it down everything goes...

sounds like you have a wire shorted in your ac circuit i would get a schematic and trace all wires related to ac operation (remember there is more than one type of short sounds like you have a short to power or ground effecting other circuits) this is a uncommon issue i would look for anything out the norm water leaks or rodent intrusion ...good luck
