Mid range flat spot. If I let off a little on the throttle it will slowly rev past it.

2008 sprinter 2500, every time i start to drive I have no power for about 5 to 8 seconds nothing happening then slowly it starts to rev up engine and start to drive then its fine , there r no codes

Check the engine in neutral/park and depress gas and confirm engine is slow to rev up. If the engine revs in gear and little or no movement have the transmission checked.

this car is likely a drive by wire.(no cable between gas pedal and throttle actuator motor) Some one needs to observe the throttle to see if it advances when the gas is depressed.

The simplest analysis would be the connection to the engine computer with not a simple scan tool but a Chrysler proprietary analyzer to see the interaction of throttle position and engine RPM

what I do is I rev my engine up to 2000 maybe a little less to get my power from the start with out a burnout

Can you describe what you mean by "flat spot"? Do you mean that there is par of the rev range where there seems to be little power? Turbo engines tend to produce bursts of power when the turbo spools up. Does the "flat spot" happen at low revs? If so, your turbo isn't spooled up yet. As you accelerate and it fires up you feel a rush of power. just a guess, provide more details and we'll try to help

Hello! More then likely it's the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS) which, when bad, has these symptoms...You have the option of testing it, if you have a multimeter, or merely replaceing it ...Up to you... It is bolted to the throttle body with a three wire connector; Wire colors...Black (ground)...Green/Yellow (5 volts)...And Black/White (sensor out)...Set meter to read 5 volts...Push the point of a safety pin into the rear of the in-place connector into the Black/White wire slot and push until the point makes contact with the pin the wire is crimped to Connect the + probe of the meter to that safety pin...Connect the - probe to ground...Start the engine ...At idle must read less than 1 volt (.85)...Rev the engine slowly to full throttle...Reading must be 4.3 volts....If neither of these readings are correct ; Replace the TPS....See picture below...Guyru...Saailer

Engine light is on and so is the electrical light.idles at 400rpm and will not go past that.when throttle the gas nothing happens.the battery is good and charging.

There are two common types of throttle control systems around now. One is slowly replacing the other. Older vehicles usually have a physical throttle cable running from the gas pedal to the throttle body. With the advent of computers this setup is slowly dying off in favour of another one called drive-by-wire. Essentially your pedal is no longer connected to the throttle body. A sensor in the pedal measures how far down it is pressed, then tells the computer, which actuates the throttle body electronically. This allows the computer to adjust everything for best performance, etc. If it's a drive-by-wire system then you could have a problem with the sensor or another component. If it's a physical hookup then it requires a more intricate look to find the problem. I would start by looking at the throttle body while having someone slowly press the gas pedal. If the throttle doesn't move then you can actuate it manually (be gentle) in most cases. If it revs up under manual actuation then you need to probably take it in for a detailed inspection because the setup is not made for repair and is hard to get at.
