yes, the heating element itself. you can try to get online and se if you can find the impedance spec and get a multimeter, and at the end of the harness, probe the terminals to get the impedance. if its out of spec, you will hav to get the element replaced. unless you are experienced, dont try it yourself. its a hard job!

It sounds like a loose connection. When it warms up, the heat causes expansion and allows the circuit to be completed. This could be at the resistor pack / speed control. In any case, you might want to read this discussion:

you have a actuator problem on the pass. side not letting the temp door to that side opperate properly

2004 chevy impala im changing the filter and gasket in the tranny pan how much more work is it to flush all out also how much fluid is needed if flushing all out

you cant flush a tranny in your drive way once you drop your pan yoou will lose most but tourque will still be full which will need a machine to totally drain it

2004 chevy impala has no heat. the motor comes up to temp. i have flushed the whole system. blower motor is working.

the thermostat might be stuck closed, and the engine will heat up, but the coolant cant circulate through the heater core.
