The 1989 corvette does not have the LT1 engine, it is a L-98 TPI. The proper rail fuel pressure with the pump running is around 42-44 PSI.

The 5.0L injector is sized to deliver approximately 4.05 milligrams of fuel with a 2.5 millisecond pulse or 18.13 lbs per hr at approximately 36 PSI. The 5.7L injector is sized to deliver approximately 4.83 milligrams of fuel with a 2.5 millisecond pulse or 23.92 lbs per hr at approximately 43.5 PSI. This information is typical for all manufacturers and flow rates will vary slightly even between identicle injectors.
Good luck and hope this helps.

I think I would be looking at the crank angle sensor and/or the cam sensors on this vehicle. It seems to me the engine isn't getting the signal to fire up.What happens when you squirt some fuel into the combustion chamber ? If it fires up I would be looking at cleaning the injectors. If it doesn't fire up What's the pressure on the fuel rail. does it have a buy pass pressure valve on the rail. Some suggestions good luck

Check your fuel pressure it should be 40-47 with the key and engine off and 30-44 with engine running. If its not within these specs then replace the fuel pump and filter.

Have been reading the reports on the idle and starting problems on the '89 Vette, and that is the problem we are having also. We've checked the timing and vacuum leaks, etc. etc. Need to try the advice for...

I also have an 89 corvette that had the same problems.Ill tell you what fixed my problem. I also changed the fuel pressure regulator(its under the plentum in front of the distributor)This was not the problem but I replaced it anyway. The problem with the idle was my injectors. The factory multecs that are in there were original to the car and are not compatible with the blends of gasoline that are sold at most stations.Too much ethanol. I replaced mine with a set from fuel injector connection.(FIC) They are rebuilt with a three year warranty. Thats better than new ones. They are bosch 3.The car has run perfect every since. As far as the long starts it helped that too but if you do a little research on the 89 corvette youll find that GM put some crazy software in the computer that year. It requires the engine to turn over two times or about 3 seconds before the injectors fire. Thanks and good luck.don6667@hotmail.com

Rough idle

The cam or crank sensor is going out when driving at high speeds. I would have those parts check, and have the fuel pressure check , fuel filter change to be on the safe side.

Good luck

Try clamping the fuel return line with the appropriate tool that wont damage line and see if it improves if so you need a fuel pump or pressure relief valve.I know you said you had fuel pressure but you took that reading while vehicle was idleing so you cant check for pressure in above idle conditions. Is your air cleaner assembly as original with no holes or leaks from air box to throttle body? Its more likely to be a mass air flow meter. This problem occured to my vette while i was on holiday there.cost$89 exchange.good luck
