Question about 1998 GMC Sonoma
Check the fuel pump relay its probably shot you should be able to hear it click swap it out with one of the others cheap fix

Check the timing chain. If you remove the air baffle and assembly and the valve cover, have someone try to start the truck and watch for movement. If the engine turns and the valves don't move, you need a new chain. If you're going to let the truck sit outside before working, put the cover back on.
