You will unfortunately need to contact the dealership if it is a factory radio this is a anti-theft deterrent

it is also possible the salesman or previous owner if applicable wrote the # down someplace such as in the owners Manuel or other paper and i would suggest looking there 1st ...also note you get 3 try's before being locked out from entering the code again for 1 hour

Put in the security code. If you don't have it, drive to the dealership with the vehicle and get the code.

How to get security code for your car radio

hi, if you have this problem with your car's radio or entertainment system then the only thing you can do to get this code is by taking your car and owner's documents to your nearest main dealership.

The reason you can only get the code from a main dealership is that the car company's when the fit any entertainment system they have to by law put in security measures to put thieves off targeting your car for the entertainment system. So the car company's don't give anybody else access to this information as a criminal could have stolen your stereo and be able to use it so this code can only be gotten from the main dealers and as long as you have the owners documents.

This security system makes thieves think again about stealing car stereos due to the fact that they cant get the code so all modern cars have this security feature.
The way most people need this code is usually due to having the battery disconnected to have work done to the vehicle and then when you put the battery back on the stereo then asks for this code.

These codes are not common knowledge and you can only get them from the dealership so take you car and owners documents with you and they will then give you the code, they wont charge for this but make sure you take ID to prove you are the registered owner.

Once you have the code its best you write it down some where safe in case you ever need it in the future and its also handy to pass on to somebody buying your car should you come to sell it.

I know its a pain but at least this way its very un-likely that a thief would target your vehicle and take your stereo due to the fact they cant get the codes.

How to remove and put the a new radio in a toyota highlander 2002

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable and ensure it doesn't contact any metal parts. Place the transmission into the "Drive" position and set the parking brake.

  • 2

Remove the trim from around the stereo by prying at one of the bottom corners with your fingers. Apply pressure until the clips disengage and work your way up the trim. Once the trim is free from the dash set it safely aside.

  • 3

Locate and remove the six 10mm bolts that hold the stereo in place. Pull the head unit out of the Toyota highlander dash and disconnect the wires from the back of the radio.

  • 4

Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness. Mount the new stereo into the Toyota radio mounting kit and secure it by following the manufacturer's instructions. Plug the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire into the back of the new stereo.

  • 5

Slide the entire stereo assembly into the dash and reconnect the battery cable. Turn the radio on and verify the speakers and controls are working on the new stereo. Secure the stereo in the dash with the six 10mm bolts and replace the trim ring around the radio.

Just put new battery in my 2001 Saturn and now I can't get my stereo to play. Please help

If it is a factory stereo, you have to call a Saturn dealer and they will give you a code to unlock.I don't know if the automatically tell you how to do it so you may have to ask.Write it down too because it will happen every time the battery gets disconnected and sometimes it needs to be even though they aren't working on your battery.Good luck! Radio needs code . ford focus 05

Hi i take it your going on about the security code for the stereo due to the battery being disconected, right now the problem you have is that the only place you can get this code from is the main dealers, so your going to need to take your car and owners documents and some id with you to your nearest main dealers so that they can give you the code.

but before you do that have a look in the owners handbook if you have had the car from new then their should be a piece of card inside the owners hand book with this code written down on, if you dont have this piece of card or you have not had the car from new then have a look inside the owners hand book and check if its been written down anywhere the usual place is inside or behind the front and back covers of the hand book so check their first.

The reason you can only get the code from the main dealers is due to security reasons, years ago you could just ring up and give them the reg of your car and they would give you the code over the phone, but they stopped this as thieves were nicking the stereos and ringing up with the reg and then they would get the code so to stop this happening all car newer than 10 years can only get the code if you take the car or owners documents and some id with you to your main dealers.
Dont ask the main dealer to put the code in for you as they will charge for this service just ask them for the code and ask them how you enter the code into the stereo if they say to you they will do it for you then just say to them your having some work done in a few days and will need to put the code in then and this way they will tell you the code without charging you to unlock the stereo for you.

so im sorry their is no easy fix but its all to do with security issues with stolen stereos
