Chances are the connecting rod has come UN-done there is a plastic clip that holds the rods in place removal of the door panel is required to ensure this ...i take it the handle is just flopping around Loosely"

unless i am misreading the question perhaps the lock is froze up and i would use some penetrating oil 1st to allow it to work a while and see if that helps otherwise removal of the door panel is required as well

could also try pushing in on the door itself while trying to open it that would indicate the striker is in need of adjustment = door is closing too tightly

How do i replace offside rear door handle

You would need to take the pannel off to get to the internal part of the mechanism. Something has broken or come apart in the opening mechanism. I'd let it go if considering replacing.

VW Touran 7- seater offside passenger door will not open

I've had this problem 3 times now. 1st time I persisted with repeated attempts, mallet blows, and got it open. I thought the problem was dodgy soldering on the circuit board by the window winder motor, resoldered what looked marginal, and it seemed ok for a while. BUT it has happened twice more, so maybe my fix was not a fix. No amount of switching or vibration would get it open. What worked in the end was disconnecting the battery and connecting a battery charger in its place. This gave the car about 15.5V and worked quickly. I assume the extra volts gave a bit more ooomph to the solenoid or whatever to get it working properly. Not a fix of course, but it's working for now. Got a new lock mechanism but haven't managed to work out how to fit it yet.

2002 Ford Escape left rear door will not open due to electric lock handle moved manually, would not reset, door open handle cable ok. Need to get panel off or recommend. If door panel needs removing, then...

Your rear doors have a child proof safety lock above the lock linkage, there is a turn knob, open the door from the outside and adjust, then the door will open from the inside now.

My chevrolet Nabira 1.8 right rear pessenger door cannot open from outside as the child lock is latch on. Anyway to open the door ? Thank you very much ! KS Ng

child latch only does not allow door to be opened from inside and should open ok from outside. you must have a faulty lock. very hard to get it open now,try stripping door card off if possible with door closed.

My rear door on the passenger side is stuck so I can't open it from the outside. but today when I had the door open to ***** the problem my little brother flipped the button and turned on the child lock....

It sounds like the plastic connecting bit that links the outside door lever to the rod, that operates the door mechanism, has broken or become disconnected. To check, you will need to remove the trim on the inside of the door, after removing any screws and the inside door lever. However now that the child safety lock has been set it could be very difficult to get the door open.
All I can suggest is that you look at the other rear door to locate the position of the safety tab and then try to disengage it by using a suitable thin blade or something on your bad door so that you can again use the inside lever.
Once you have the inside trim off and the plastic sheet, you will see an access hole for the door mechanism and the outside operating handle of the door. It should be attached to the actuating rod by the aforementioned plastic bit. If plastic bit appears OK try re-attaching it or replacing it if broken. If the part of the handle which attaches to the rod is broken, the handle will need replacing.

Door in back cant open from outside and inside

I'm sure VW had a recall to replace door lock mechanisms around that age, check with your dealer. If the door and window on the same door are not working it could be lack of power to that door, check the wiring harness connection is still plugged in and ok on the b pillar (b pillar is the vertical panel between front and rear door), remove rubber gaitor bellows and check connections.

406 door won't open.

you need door open to remove child lock safety switch off..although it is impossible to remove door trim when door is shut without damaging trim panel.
