#1,2,3,4 are on the passenger side or right side when sitting in the vehicle, starting from the front of the engine towards the firewall---#5,6,7,8 are the left side starting from front of the engine toward the firewall. Both sides are in order so the front right side(as you are sitting in the vehicle) the #3 coil is the 3rd one back, and #8 is the left side(as you are sitting in the vehicle)last one before the firewall

Test revealed cylinder 5 is missing on my 98 expedition

You have a bad COP Ignition Coil or several

They only misfire whenever they feel like it

If you had professional software --you could road test in
Mode #06 & look at cylinder misfire counts

You need to buy a couple of coils & try in cylinder #5,
front one drivers side

If that isn't the correct one or you have several, walk the
other new coil to get to the bad ones

Disregard any other stray codes until the coil issues are
solved

If it stays on your have Class B misfire
If it flashes you have a Class A misfire that could
damage the exhaust converter

Why is my 1997 expedition showing a misfire on number 2 cylinder OBD code PO302. Also I am getting code readings PO174 andPO171 system to lean on Bank 1and 2

PO302 is being a misfire, could mean the plug is bad or the coil is bad for that cylinder. Which can give you the misfire reading and the system to lean codes. Check the #2 coil for firing.

97 Expedition, 5.4L hesitated during acceleration 40-45MPH. Check Engine light flashed, then stayed on. Would get up to 55-60MPH. All guages read ok. First trouble ever with this car.

go to a parts store and they will let you use their scanner for free. sounds like a cylinder misfiring. The scanner will tell you which one it is.

Misfire in #7 cylinder. think i need to change the plugs. don't know how.

This is what I do when I have a miss on one cylinder with a coil-on-plug ignition system: Take the coil off of the suspect cylinder, and remove the plug. If you see no obvious problems with these 2 parts, swap each with another in a different cylinder, paying close attention to where you moved them to. For example: move #7 plug to #5, and #7 coil to #3. Now run the engine and see which cylinder has the misfire. If it moved to #3, you have a bad coil. If it moved to #5, the plug is bad - replace them all unless they are very new. To replacce the plugs, remove each coil and you can access the plug beneath with a standard spark plug socket and extension. Good luck!

I have a code po354 on my 99 expedition, book says cylinder d misfire, which cylinder is this?

I just worked on 98 expedition 5.4l had code PO354. This code refer to an open primary coil winding, open wire, or bad PCM.
Check primary winding with ohm meter should be from 0.5 to 1.5 ohms and about 2.5 ohms with a hot engine. check wiring with a noid light, run the engine and shake the harness if light goes out repair harness you should have battery voltage with key on the computer controls the ground side.

2000 Ford Expedition EB runs rough and begins to shake and stall

I personally would start with the one that runs cylinder #3 and then take it from there.

How To Replace the #5 coil for a 2001 Ford Expedition

if you know that it is the coil. changing it is really easy. you are going to need a 10mm socket with extention. a 7mm socket for the coil mount bolt. first leading bank is number 1-4 front going back( passenger side) driver side is 5-8. 5 is the front cylinder on drivers side. remove the power stearing bracket 3 10mm bolts. coil is right underneath. intake can be removed if you feel is needed. after that there is a 7mm bolt remove the bolt. disconnect the 2 pin connector. pull to remove the coil. the boot may come off if coil hasn't been moved in some time. use pliers to remove it if that happens. blow out spark plug hole with shop air. installed new coil. install 7mm bolt. plug connector in. reinstall power steering mount bracket. good to go.
